That is a lot of rice. You can rename yourself the Rice Baron.

Not far off from reality either, considering how many meals of rice and beans and lentils I've been cooking this year. Why aren't legumes a food resource in Civ anyway? They're a staple food in many places and important in early agriculture for fixing nitrogen when included in a crop rotation or multicropping field.

Extra food resources means extra health which can affect game balance. Plus if the new food type is not meaningfully different than an existing one (i.e. same tile yield) then you are not really increasing the design space and enriching the game.

I meant more from a flavor perspective than a game design one. I don't remember much of Civ5, but in Civ6 we're still eating rice, wheat, and corn (maize). Let's have some variety with beans and squash at least, not just grains.

Yeah, I mean it depends on whether you think the game needs another grain resource or whether it makes sense to replace an existing one with legumes.

Of course, just idle chatter on my part. Thinking on it, the Civ4 diet is starkly lacking in fruits and vegetables. You get bananas and that's it. No, wine does not count as a dietary serving of fruit. (Yes, I know it's abstracted away into what all the other farms are producing. Let me have my fun.)

Let me tell you something:

Someone has hooked fish as of T8 with 4 people having ended turn, but I can't tell if the average has moved enough for multiple people to have seafood. Curious to see if Spain went for religion first, we should see shortly.

Top MFG is down to 3 which indicates either some late Workboat building off of a 2/1 tile (ew) or perhaps people with plains wheat or hill pig or grass forest deer (etc.) as capital food building their Workers.
Anyway, I'm going to keep my head in the sand until AH finishes in the hopes that horses appear in the perfect place, and then I'll have to update my sandbox.
