while i think barbs being on does do a good job of getting people to not run a skeleton defence early on, i've never liked civ 4's animals just randomly being spawning on tiles to eat scouts. it is probably an incentive to build scouts early, but there's no reason to do that when worker (occasionally workboat) first is the only way to go without falling super far behind. civ 6 has its own problems with the obnoxious turn 6 barb horseman camps, but it at least lets you keep your scouts alive with careful maneuvering

missed this comment. the start has been so boring to play i havent felt much to comment on. 1st city will share the corn with the capital and also get the fish. the game i think will come alive when i settle beyond that into better land, but it has been so incredibly slow up to that point. i'd much rather play a strong capital and weak surrounding lands then the reverse

the start is so unfathomably slow that i got to BW and whipped my first settler with the spiritual no anarchy bonus. whee.

this is NOT a crude joke about female anatomy, this is a perfectly legitimate leech city feeding off my capital food while only pulling a fish and a horse in. DO NOT LAUGH... got it????

PANIK

If that is his capital (Which I assume it is, unless he is the guy who built Stonehenge), this is really close for an enemy capital. And there's no good way to settle copper first ring. Christ. Good thing I popped borders so early on my horse city.
