T0 begins the Egyptian empire in a fertile desert
Rivers, oasis, floodplains, desert hills, plains hills, peaks, lush grassland, tons of food resources, forests... Seriously what kind of start is this? Observe:
Yes, warrior started on the hill so I moved him NE for lack of any better ideas. Anyways, this start is clearly NOT made by a map generator. It's too unusual. So we know the start around us is at least heavily customized. This would seem to imply that this may be a heavily custom map? Not sure on that, though this terrain is certainly not very typical map generator stuff. Since it's so odd I'm guessing it's probably either mirrored or really close to it. Anyways, let me check this:
As expected, Sian and AT both settled on T0. Probably settled in place, as I can't imagine one of these spots 1 move away is better. Ok, better put, they are not better. Unless of course they've got different land than me in which case who knows. Demos before I settle:
Perhaps I should break the lazy habit this game of always including demographics. Because seriously, I'm not doing C&D. Life is too short. Plus, we're just hanging out here having fun ya'll. Speaking of which, crap, I forgot to rename the capital. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Yes, I did settle it:
No, it shall not be named Thebes. And hey, gold! In what looks like maybe a terrible spot. Hooray. So yeah, looks like hills/mountains west, hills/forests easts. South looks river-y and hill-y, and north looks like dry land and floodplains (tile-bleeding shows additional FP tiles). We are in the south portion of the map, because tile bleeding again shows we have some snow trees down in the southeast portion of the map. So we're below the equator. Hm. Interesting. Should be a fun game.
Oh, right, nearly forgot. I decided I'll go for Bronze Working first as this capital is whip heaven. So Mining it is. AH probably right after that for plains cow production and, more importantly, find horses. Not going to commit to a rush this early, but I'd like to have all my options on the table. Also look for stone.
Build-wise, basically worker first because we're rolling in agri sources and, what do you know, we start with Agriculture. Also, that rice is wet due to the Oasis which is cool. I'll probably aim to get a second city rather early and settle it close to share some of these good tiles. Probably something like worker, warrior, settler. Or something. I don't know, just going to roll with whatever feels best.
