[SPOILERS] BaxAmeliKnight's thread

Ouch, we have last pick for the last civ. Guess that means we're picking the leftovers, so no use discussing it.

Now if only that Reddit team went ahead and picked...

No, guys, you are second in the last pick. The order is 2, 4, 1, 3.

So, Reddit guys; you guys; Thoth, Mardoc, Ellimist; Kyan, DaveV plako.

Hmmm... must have seen that wrongly :P But anyways we're still waiting for Team Reddit to pick...

Even if we were 12th, that doesn't mean we can't speculate. There are a couple of civs I have my eye on we should discuss (this is all assuming we pick Tasunke next, if not then this won't matter). My current list of civs for 3rd pick is:

Calabim -> Malakim -> Khazad -> Grigori -> Amurites/Balseraphs -> Illian/Sheaim

Calabim and Malakim and no-brainers, however I expect they'll be long gone before we can pick them.

Khazad I think would be a fine choice. They can use chariots to go along with the mounted theme of Kurio's/Hippus, are a powerhouse late game with high production cities and Dwarven Druids, and can tech reasonably well. The main problem is that they are a bit too much like the Kurio's in that they don't focus on expansion much, but in this case I'd say screw the vault mechanics until late game, the worst it can be is 2 unhappy (which Kurio happiness can help overcome). Other problem is that they also might be taken quickly.

Grigori have been discussed enough already. Adventurers, PHI/ADA, Medics, Ardor (Does Ardor effect the whole team or just Grigori?) and Teammate Priest settling are all nice bonuses.

Amurites and Balseraphs (Keelyn specifically, don't think Perp randomness would work well in Teams) have extremely strong arcane games, the problem is that they don't work well with our other civs at all (Hippus have almost non-existant arcane game, Kurio's at least have good mana). Still, they're strong enough to be considered.

Finally Sheaim and Illians are similar to Amurites/Keelyn since they have good arcane games, but aren't as effective thanks to various factors. Sheaim effectively have no worldspell or Planar Gates, and with PZ's going up the metal path is inefficient which Hippus/Kurio's probably want to do. I don't think we could do a Priest rush with Illians because Kurio's/Hippus have no need for Philo, and without Statis there just enough left to justify picking them.

What do you guys think about this order? Any other civs you guys think would be good for 3rd?

They picked Tasunke. Who do we go for now? Flauros?

My vote is for Flauros. Khazad has been removed as well... Vamps will be an excellent addition.

Personally I prefer the Malakim to the Calabim, but I'm happy with either of them. Testing shows that River of Blood removes pop from teammates though, but we can always fire that on t0, and who can turn down Vamps?

BTW Amelia, I sent an e-mail to you a couple of days ago which you haven't responded to. Did it reach you?

I'm not sure myself. Malakim are a good choice as well. Right now I think we want someone with a real good army. Shame about Tasunke. frown

For more discussion: What about Ljos? They have some synergies with Kurios in that they both benefit from FoL and they have a, if I recall correctly, a decent horse-archer.

Yup it reached me. Sorry for not replying though, my gmail is having a bit of a problem. Hard for me to even load anything, let alone reply.

I think the Calabim/Malakim can come before Ljos. Doubt elves will be picked first over the Calabim/Malakim.

What's the worldspell of Malakim? Extra priests right? I guess that works just as well as Vamps. Put me up for them then.

Not to mention Adaptive/Spiritual is slightly better than Flauros.
