[Spoilers PB23] Old Harry's attempt at civilizing AdrienIer

Trending on (my) tapatalk news feed :P

You don't like Russia as a hunting/mining civ? Khmer really begs to be given exp though, as the half price barays would be really nice.

I agree that exp is awkward to work with, but it works slightly better as hunting/mining civ as you have more base beakers to work with.

Here's an exp khmer opening I worked up. Goes worker-warrior-warrior-workboat-settler, but with changes as going to chop or overflow into the settler. Not in slavery, but the settler could come out this turn also if you revolted to slavery last turn and whipped him. Seems pretty strong, and does get the settler a few turns earlier, but only 1 worker obviously. You would be putting 15fhpt into a worker after the build though so the next one would be pretty quick. Tech BW-fishing-wheel, with wheel being finished eot27. Early play and might be able to make better, but I couldn't find a great way of working slavery into it easily. (1 forest is chopped, and then the GH mined_)

I think overall the other build is ahead on hammers because of the amount of whipping, but not by too much. It depends what you can be actually doing with those earlier workers I suppose? I guess wheel would come in a bit later on that sim as hunting is a higher cost than the wheel.

But I agree that it is your pick entirely ad, this is just there to try and help inform you. As I said in an earlier post, go for a civ you will enjoy (vikings have gone btw, so I think a fishing/hunting sim for greece is a bit meh, but we can try it if you are keen!)

I suppose the other thing here is that warriors have some use for pillaging with the random improvements on - has there been a decision re huts?

I think the script actually doesn't seed these guys:

Might be wrong though.
If only you and me and dead people know hex, then only deaf people know hex.

Good thing we don't use the forum reputation system here, someone would have flagged that post for sure. wink Jar Jar is NSFW (not safe for whatever)!

Rome it is ! I'll be taking an aggressive leader to go with it, cheap barracks for culture and shock preats is just too much fun. Forums will be interesting, but they make phi worse. We'll have more time to think about the leaders, I'll do the sims on sunday.

I was about to accept not taking exp but cheap forums are nice as well. Shaka ?

Nice but can you get your first settler out before eot23? (Yeah, no warrior to cover it, but what could possibly go wrong? Add a turn if you want a warrior). I had a go with Genghis and it went something like this:

t0 BW & work boat
t6 start worker
t14 BW finishes, start Hunting, worker complete eot
t15 worker moves to forest start warrior
t18 worker chops into settler
t19 worker moves to forest, back to warrior
t22 Hunting finished, start Wheel, worker chops into settler
t23 worker starts pasture, settler complete eot
t24 warrior complete eot

I was hoping to be able to revolt t22 and whip the settler t23, but I'm a hammer short frown. It may still be worth whipping t24 to get a load of overflow into a second settler.

Actually I can do better with Joao mischief

Same build order except everything is one or two turns earlier with more overflow and 29 hammers of overflow with a whip turn 22.

You don't want AGG Praets then? mischief

I'd argue against EXP here because I don't think it gives you enough of an advantage - I make it about two turns over the first 20, which isn't nothing, but later on you'll just have cheap markets (honestly not that good unless you have all the happy the market doubles). You want multiples of three hammers to get the most from EXP and this start gives you five hammers, then food once the work boat is done. Five hammers is exactly the minimum to get the IMP boost though, and by the time IMP starts to shine (from T20-50ish) you're in Slavery and chopping.

I haven't considered CRE because I think you can normally place cities for first-ring resources, and if you go for AGG then Barracks are cheap. Someone already took one IND leader, so that slightly lessens the shine. ORG and FIN are good but you weren't that interested in them? SPI I like, but I don't think I know how to properly leverage it. PRO I've never tried, but would be useful if you start next to Mackoti...
