CoL is 20 culture, and once I get that it's obvious to run both GK and UP. That's +1 faith, gold and hammer. Takes 15 turns to reach there. Killing a barb unit is worth a bit then.
Oh, now I see the palace gives 2 hammers. This UI sucks as more than I recall. Why doesn't the UI tell you how much food you have saved either?
Also, the %age modifier from amenities stays at 5% until the capital reaches size 3 right?
Yes, you have the production costs for all of the units correct.
The palace gives +2 , +1 , +1 and +5 per turn.
The UI doesn't give you the numerical count. However, if you access the city details panel (the leftmost icon above the city info box) there's a bar graph in the one of the tabs that graphically shows you how much food you have.
You are correct regarding amenities. The citrus would give you another amenity when a plantation is put on it, but you won't need the amenity for a while.

Fuck the UI then. Might as well play the game via spreadsheet.
Scout to settler seems.bet, rice is always better than citrus because pop give innate culture and science just from existing, so the hammer of the citrus only matters if it gets the scout out earlier which it can't.
So scout first, warrior to stone, culture to CoL and research...what? Pottery? Lock in an early campus after 2 techs next to both mountains with a bought tile?

Getting culture and having a deterent against possible enemy scouts trying to snipe your builder will be good. Are you thinking on a getting an encampement and running 2GG card to get the first GG or thinking going straight for PP? The research Sulla did in one of his threads suggest that getting PP by mid 60's is the best course however diviating if we cant the GG card may be worth the couple extra turns. I don't think we will have a problem though once we can start killing barbs.
Not sure if buying a second 2/3 (after builder works) tiles instead of just working the 1/3 though. (i tend to horde gold in case of emergencies, also like to buy buildings so i tend to advise towards not spending on tiles)
Getting to pop 6 total for early empire is good however with houseing of 5 in the captial i don't think the extra 1 prod from sheep / stone will end up being 1 food compared to the 1/3 hill is worth the builder charge. There may be a use at city 2 that will yield more benefit. Maybe tile picker will pick the stone or sheep second and then improve with second builder? I do agree though that getting all those inspirations are really nice.
Depending on barb availability it might be possible to have the barbs pay for Military Tradition while generated culture goes for PP. I think we see what's around, particularly with horses and iron before considering the Encampment. I also think the decision on joining the GG race depends on Krill's preferences for an offensive vs. defensive game early on and which opponents are closest.
Krill: one thing to keep in mind with Gorgo's culture-on-kill ability is that you should be able to direct where the culture goes by selecting a different civic before engaging in combat, then switching back out afterwards.
The improvements at both 2/2 tiles gain eurekas for two "critical" techs. Saving the builder charge for City #2 also delays the inspiration for Craftsmanship. The pasture + farm also raises the capital's housing to 6. My expectation is that the tile picker will take the sheep and stone as the first two tiles. The city might naturally get both tiles before the builder is ready, which saves the gold for something else.

That sounds like a good plan to me.

Ok, thanks for the heads up regarding the micro for directing culture, seems like culture doesnt overflow from one civic to the next so that's important.
And this is what I was hoping to get from ded lurkers. I don't know this game, I only read bits of Bacchus's thread from PBEM 3 and most of PBEM 4. I need two things. Confirmation and sharing of facts, mechanics, definitive knowledge that I totally lack. This is the most important for learning. And I need the analysis of how those facts interact with this game, I need the why something is good. I'll probably post a plan that is really stupid because I have misinterpreted something, or there is something I don't know. So please post away.

When you get the save not sure if you know about the filters in the lower left but you might get lucky and be on a continental divide or close to one

One other thing about the filters - the settler filter is useful when scouting to see what's around you, as it picks up cities you can't yet see. Your closest opponent will start about 10-12 tiles away (as the....civ bird?...flies) from you while city-states may be within half that distance. City-States will in a majority of the cases also be near fresh water.

Krill - since the game is going to postpone until the patch drops, do you have any particular questions regarding game mechanics or strategies you want to discuss in the meantime?

Or want to play through a sample SP game and ask lurkers about stuff?
Watching you flail on your own will be as entertaining as the real game.
