Were you trying to log into two different Gmail or Gtalk accounts at the same time on the same computer, using the same web-browsing software? They'll lock your account if you try that.
Google is weird like that. A friend got his account closed without any explanation a while ago and when he contacted Google about it, the template answer he received was that they wouldn't provide a reason for the closure or open the account again. However his comments would be used to improve future service.
There just is a point in which a company grows too large to be nice to everyone. It's probably nothing personal, but it still stinks.

It's as I thought, they only locked my gmail account to get my phone number. Apparently, receiving phone number information is a tough nut to crack for Google. Thus, they've created Google Android and now the Gmail lockdown to get our phone numbers. It's scary how much information Google really has.
Here is the source (a very interesting article on this issue): http://www.slightlyshadyseo.com/index.ph...ta-empire/ Jowy Wrote:It's as I thought, they only locked my gmail account to get my phone number. I'm aware that Google is a data-loving company, and I don't expect them to be altruistic about how they use the data, but I think you may be jumping to conclusions, especially since most of us have one or more Gmail accounts and haven't provided a phone number. sunrise089 Wrote:I think you may be jumping to conclusions, especially since most of us have one or more Gmail accounts and haven't provided a phone number.Yeah, I have 3 different Gmail accounts that I use (sparingly) for various things, from two different computers, and have never given my phone number, nor had the accounts locked. So I dunno what you are doing that is catching their attention. "There is no wealth like knowledge. Google actually requires you to verify your new gmail account via your phone nowadays. Maybe it's illegal in some countries, that'd explain why everyone aren't having the same problem (I'm from Finland). Another possibility could be that they're only asking it from people they don't have it yet (from any source).
Its not google, its their embedded ad service gaining sentience so they are shutting down servers one by one to purge the thing.
I just had one my accounts that I've had with gmail for almost 3 years pop and require activation.

My civ access this weekend is going to be limited, I should be able to play Friday evening and Saturday morning, and then not until Sunday evening. Antisocialmunky had no luck in being able to play the turn a few weeks ago, so I don't have a sub lined up. If I have future stretches of unavailability, I'll have to come up with a better solution, including perhaps a lurker willing to play the turn? For the moment, even a spoiled lurker would work, since it's "move 1-3 units, possibly rearrange tiles, grab a screenshot, hit enter."
