Anti-climactic, but it went nicely:

Just a granary, but it's better than nothing:

I chatted with Noble, Seven, and Cyneheard, and we took the liberty of moving our sentry War Chariot up so we could get a view of the battlefield, which should help inform our decisions for this turn:

FYI: That sentry still has 1 movement point left, so it can safely retreat into the city once we're done with the turn.

So our planning here is halfway a diplo choice, halfway a tactical choice. We NEED to decide in this order:

1) What city/cities we are capturing
2) How to do that quickly
3) THEN if we're letting WPC capture anything, we clear that city/cities for them.

For instance, we could advance on Warendorf now, sure, but if we agree to let WPC keep that BUT we are keeping tundra, we're likely better off grabbing those with 2 movers and waiting a few turns. In contrast, if we're letting them have tundra cities OR if we're just keeping it all, we should figure the quickest way to dice up these stacks and take the cities we want.

So discuss away, but let's try to keep diplo-oriented stuff in that thread and purely tactical thinking in here, with priority to the diplo thread.

We should probably try to send some 2-movers north at some point to capture the pair of northern iceballs right as we finish the conquest on their core. It looks like their core will be done in 4 more turns including this one. (3 if they abandon Wilhelmshaven).

We'll probably need visibility on the German stack to do that safely, but we can probably have the knights wait to make their move next turn and still clean up at the same time as our maces clean up the core.

Edit: I'd vote for sticking to our agreement. Any city WPC has a stack up next to threatening, we clear out for them. Any other city we take. I'd assume that means they can get Warendorf and nothing else, so I think I'd be in favor of heading east to pick up Wilhelmshaven before WPC can regroup and get stuff over there.

Edit: reduced times for their core to be dead because engineering can propel the stack 2 columns east this turn.

This is where I defend my choice to send them the courtesy notice on the turn we declare war, even if it could have maybe denied us a slight theoretical advantage. wink

We should at least kill that cat that's with the Q. A knight will reach and then sit behind that river. Can we cover it with maces or the whole main stack. The Germans seem to be splitting their army and I for one think we should crush them one at a time. I don't think splitting them is a great idea. But that doesn't mean we can't send a platoon of knights north. That I think is a good idea.

Yeah this makes sense, we can attack the catapult and not be exposed.

Anyway I want to make note that there is a Medic 3 chariot in Warendorf, so the units will definitely be healed by the time our one-movers are in a position to attack it no matter what.

Too lazy to retype this in proper posting format so pretend this is a chat snippet.

NobleHelium:
hmm
you know that sizeable elephant stack on the hill southeast of warendorf
those units were in the city when wpc took the screenshot
what's up with that? if wpc were to move in this turn they wouldn't be in position to attack out
tbh it almost looks like they want to attack wpc. they have workers like roading east, even

I think we should push ahead as much as we can, ie put most of our maces, knights, and cats on the tile 1E of Wittenberge. And kill that exposed catapult.

They have 3 horse archers and a medic 3 chariot that can threaten Wittenberge, so leave some wounded knights, a war elephant, a a mace or two in the city. We can probably leave our medic 3 there as well - he can catch up with the main stack easily enough.

I'd still like our scout to check out the area northwest of Istanbul in Apolyton's land again - Apolyton has at least one city there.

Domestic stuff:

Should we go for a grocer in Adventure One before the university? Or a courthouse in Mansa's Muse before the university?

Spy in Focal Point? Not that there is much left to steal now. Both a courthouse and a missionary feels like good choices.

Forbidden Fruit drops the spice from The Covenant, and picks up the unworked cottage. We can 2-pop whip the courthouse in 2t.

Eastern Dealers can fire a priest and work the mine instead, as Seven outlines earlier. We get the GP as the turn ends, finishes the courthouse, and gets an extra 1F.

The Covenant takes back the spice.

Cutting Edge can grow in 2t by working a farm instead of the grass mine.

Whip the lighthouse in Winter Wasteland.

Denial of Nile picks up the corn.

Webringen/Doppelgänger works the banana (which we plantation).
