RB Pitboss #2 [SPOILERS] - Peter of Byzantium

I very much admire the philosophical approach you are now taking (pretty understandable that this wasn't the immediate reaction to the setback). And I also admire that you are now (after some understandable emotional reactions) looking for revenge in the game rather than revenge towards real-life people.

Those of you who are able to read the threads for pitboss 1 might want to look at MH's reasons for becoming so disenchanted from the game (nothing to do with in-game stuff, so it isn't spoilerish to mention it. But it was an upsetting result of a bad separation between in-game stuff and interpersonal OOG upset between players, which we hopefully don't want to repeat unnecessarily). For those of you able to read PBEM spoilers, then I really admired how the players could remain on very good terms in real life, whilst visciously and systematically plotting and backstabbing in game. This is the approach to take!

Yup, no limit hold 'em games are the same. Its probably a bit worse since you'll have a higher percentage of players taking an aggressive tact, and at least a few of them will find success. You can't compete with that if you don't respond in kind, unless you get really sick luck.

Sunrise, to me all your moves look good (and even if they didn't I'd trust your judgement more!). The only thing is I do think AH makes sense for a tech swap, didn't see a mention of that in your report.

Also, at one point do you think you are done popping and chopping Archers? I'd like to do some quick sims on getting The Oracle, maybe timing it the turn after AH comes in.

Any objection to our ending turn?

Have we agreed to a turn order and do we want to?

Xpost with darrell - I did swap to AH earlier - it's due in 6 I believe.

We have not agreed on a turn order. Until (or unless) we do so we need to make sure of two things:

1) We need to make sure 9 hours has elapsed since our last moves.

2) I need to be logged in to make sure our worker escapes.

Also, chatting with Speaker on Teamspeak he has committed allowing our worker to move past his Woodsman II warrior unmolested. Up to us whether we believe him though.

You took a risk and you lost. Good luck with your destroy Ottoman approach...

Edit: Is it 9 hours or 12 hours?

@MWIN,

I continue to object to being classified as a "rule-bender". I am continuing to figure out the whole MP style same as some of the other players. And as sunrise pointed out to me, there seems to be a big SP-bias in many places at realms beyond in any MP situations where a play could move twice - anything other than sequential turns or a simulation thereof as some sort of cheap shot

Also, I try to make an entertaining thread for you, the lurkers. Does that come with some sort of disadvantage in future games? Yeah, I bet it does. I bet there are plenty of people who were lurkers in PB1 that hold my actions in that game against me in some way.

I guess it just goes with the territory. I encourage you and any other lurkers to give it a shot in PB3.

I noticed that I was running into this in PBEM#1 with Sooooo. Thus I started to refer to myself as India and Sooooo as Greece so that I could say things like ...

"India really hates Greece"

... without it impacting on my relationship with Sooooo in any possible later games.
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

I edited the contents within two seconds of my post. Still, I could not avoid you reading itbanghead. Well, it was supposed to go into Lurker’s thread. But no harm done (for this game), even if you got a chance to read it, there is no spoiler information in it.

Regarding my classification of you as "Rule-bender", my apologiessmoke. May be, I should not have used that word. It came worse than I wanted. Yes, I don’t have any MP experience and it might take me some more time to digest that double move sometimes is unavoidable. Also, the opinon I expressed is my personal only and there are lots of people who doesn’t mind it at all.

I follow your PB1 thread religiously and I get most of the information about the game from your thread. Lot of other members doesn’t even care to update (at least not periodically). Thank you! I read that game from Rego’s point of view, but still make my own judgments (for what purpose, to keep me interested). Does updating your thread with all your thoughts and moves makes you disadvantaged in other games, I don’t think so. People like me will never play an MP CIV game anyway….

Edit: After some more thinking/discussion in the lurker thread, I agree that part of the mis-click claim from Athlete was pretty lame/shady.

I don't really want to comment on the situation generally, because I'm spoilered all over the place and everything is happening and all.

However, I thought I could/should comment on this bit.

You have all made this a fun thread! It has been a really good read and I've enjoyed it no end! In fact, right now it's distracting me from the work I'm meant to be doing. smile

Thanks!
