Is there really a situation in BTS in which less cottages is an improvement to your empire ? In RtR of course this is valid

In BTS, yes you do need still need some cities focused on production, some coming from big-time raw hammer cities (e.g. your HE), while the rest comes via whip and shared cottages (e.g. cottages for the most part "belong" to one central city, like a capital, while the assistant cities eventually give up their cottages to later take some combination of farms, workshops, and mines and are whipped as often as possible). It looks like REM did this in his PBEM61 game, for a recent example.

Even in RtR, though, you want some cottages, because, as Krill said the total yield from a town is still better than the yield from a caste workshop. If you ignore cottages completely you will eventually fall behind. All the "workshop economies" I spoke of still do have some towns; for example, in PB22 I have quite a few in my central core and quite a few more captured from you and Furungy; however, I have more workshop-type tiles worked than cottage-type tiles overall, hence, workshop economy. (although if I was truly being accurate I guess I should say that I have a "non-Fin lighthouse coast economy" rolf)

Maybe I'm really too biased towards cottages then, usually my production cities are hills+food like Lobambus in this game or my Moai.

I'm back now, thanks for playing the turns (even when you where sick, I hope you're better now). Any comments on the last two turns ?

I saved up some money and started on some cheap Forums and Grocers in your commerce cities. Banking is next, I think you only want banks in your best commerce cities to get the slider up a bit. Have you thought about moving the capital to somewhere with more commerce potential and switching to Bureau next GA?

There is a bit of an uneasy truce with Ipecac after the enforced peace ran out - I let him chop a forest on our borders and he returned the favour. Not a peep out of Johns, there are two workers on the border with him - one should move NW and start a workshop next turn.

Which city would be best suited for a capital change ? Lobambus for the +50% hammers in the already great production city, Moai city because it's more flexible or somewhere else that I can't think of ?

Did you manage to get more cities out in the northern peninsula ? Is Ipecac looking settle-y out there ?

I thought the MoM city, once all the cottages are grown, with an academy would be a good capital.

I think you can fit one more city in, north of the gold.

Actually the cap now has 61 commerce which is pretty good. If I can get myself a GA soon I might change to bureau. If I ever get steam power the cap is one of the few cities where it would truly make a difference.

Now I need help to decipher this.

Last turn I noticed Agent settled the silver spot on the peninsula and had 2 silvers, while I had a silk to trade. This turn the deal was accepted and this message is very letsattackCH-y. CH being our only common neighbor and all. But I don't want to attack CH , he's got rifles everywhere...

Whosit captured a CH city. Maybe Agent wanted to make it a 3-on-1 affair ? If Agent actually does something I'll consider moving in.
