Sorry you're not finding the game rewarding with such a time investment Sullla. You've got us in great shape and have definitely earned a break if you want it.
I think those are pretty indisputable answers for Ditchdigger, Mano, and Focal Point. For Mansa I agree with the point on rifling, and it's worth keeping in mind we're sort of in a mini-game of the defense scenario for like 30 turns. We can't torpedo the future too much for the present, but cases where we can make a modest gain 30-50t down the road should probably be avoided if they get us fewer units or delay rifling tech.

Isn't it better for the Great People to go from Eastern Dealers first then Mansa? Mansa isn't likely to spawn another GP in the foreseeable future, while Eastern Dealers will. So the next 100 GPP from Mansa after this GP could either go to waste (if it spawns before ED) or be used towards a GP (if it spawns after ED).
Put another way, spawning from ED first lets it get another 100 GPP towards the next cycle by the time both cities cash out.

Uh, spawning ED first means we might never get a GP from MM, or at minimum it gets delayed far too long to be acceptable. Obviously we spawn from MM first and then stop running specialists there since we're not likely to get another GP.

A bank at Mansa's Muse will be worth about 40 gold per turn when it's finished and we reset to the normal tiles, so finishing it 7 turns sooner is worth about 210 gold. Over the 16 turns we take to build it we will be getting a total of 112 gold less due to not having merchants, so we save about 98 gold from doing this. It does affect GP points though. Currently we have a 46% chance of a prophet at MM, so I don't really see the harm in having more prophet points. We currently only have 1 prophet hired at Eastern Dealers, so hopefully we won't get the same type of GP.
I like the Mansa priest idea (assuming it doesn't delay our GP date.) We break even at 20 turns, thus the impact on rifling is neutral or positive. (the following assumes 20% tech rate.)
3 merchants:
114.9gpt for 23 turns 2642.7
Total: 2642.7 gold
3 priests:
107.7gpt for 16 turns 1723.2
143.6gpt for 7 turns 1005.2
Total: 2728.4 gold
I agree we need a GP from Mansa first. The 2nd GP will arrive much faster from Eastern Dealers if Mansa goes first.

Sad to hear you finding the game a slog right now, Sullla.
As for GP generation, I think we need to consider the larger picture. Our original plan was to use a 2-person GA to get into State Property after beelining Communism, but right now we are heading towards Rifling. So, will we need the GP from Mansa's Muse in around 18t?

That's a fair assessment, I share in everyone's sentiment that you did a good job getting us here. However, this is just part of these full diplo, no TT games.

Apolyton just did another round of drafts and whips - 5 1-pop reductions and one 2-pop reduction.

The plan is to set off our own golden age from consqutive GPs from MM and ED. The one in MM is due in 14 turns, and that might be able to be sped up by 1 turn by starvation. The one in ED will take 2-3 turns after that.
I like Sullla's suggestion of swapping back the gold hill and running starvation. That gets us the same amount of hammers as running 3 priests does.
@Sullla: Sorry to hear you're not enjoying the game right now. I think things will look better on T170-T180 than you think they will. Hopefully we can get through this tricky period and defend our borders. When our German cities come online we'll have an amazing empire.

Yes, I'm aware that's the current plan. But I'm asking if we want to use that plan given that our tech path has changed, from Communism (and State Property) to Rifling.
If we plan to and can get State Property in the tail end of the Golden Age, that's fine, but can we do that?
