scooter Wrote:As for leaders - I think the best route is to go from a limited pool of choices like PBEM10, as most people don't like having their leader/civ chosen for them. Are there any experienced players who would be willing to give us a pool to choose from? Basically we would just like the top tier of civs/leaders to be removed, and how "top tier" is defined is up to that person. We could develop the list on our own, but I'm afraid that our own biases/hopes for who we want to play in this game could negatively impact that. So, any takers? Cyneheard/Krill, are you guys still reading? Actually Plako might be a good person to do this since he is creating the map.
I'm not sure what you're suggesting? PBEM10's pattern was a draft set up by the players to choose their options, and I'm not going to pre-select a list of possible choices.

I mixed up what I thought PBEM10 did - I realized later that I misspoke on that one. My mistake.
I have a simpler solution. Fin/Exp/Cre/Phi - you may have only one of those traits. This still leaves for some strong combinations, but it expands the horizons past the ones that always get picked in these games. Thoughts?

Those are standard bans lately, so the roster will be quite familiar.
You could always allow duplicates...
I have to run.

You guys want a non-mirrored map right? You could always start with all start areas (or the entire map) defogged, and introduce starting position as another item to be picked (in a snake pick, for example).

One of these games should do this. It would be incredibly cool to watch =)

If you do end up wanting a limited pool, here's one with 10 leaders and 10 civs.

To avoid normal repetition I suggest just banning Willem, Pacal, Sury, India and Inca.

Okay, in summary, here are the options we are voting on for leaders/civs:
A. All available
B. Only allowed one trait from Fin/Phi/Exp/Cre
C. SevenSpirit's pool of options
D. Minimalist ban: Willem, Pacal, Sury, India, Inca
My vote goes like this:
C, D, B, A
I'd like to hear from the other players on this, as it's more or less the last major issue.
