Trading 2h for 1f is bad, yet that's pretty much exactly what that second comparison is?
2h is better than 1f. The signs run in opposite directions: I'm saying -1f +2h is a good trade in both cases.

Realization:
The last part will go to my NATIONAL PARK city. 11 forests. Without a doubler, that NP city gets +160% production on a spaceship part. Can I 1t the 1200h Stasis Chamber from Genetics? Hm: I'd need 462 base hammers on that turn. 11 forests x 30h = 330. So I'd need 132 base hammers between GA production on that turn and overflow from the previous turn. So 134 base hammers over those two turns if I perfectly align them (not terribly difficult with some pre-planning, I suspect). In a Golden Age, I'll have: One Plains Hill RR Mine (6h) 10x plains workshops or Grass Hill RR Mines (5h) 5x grass workshops (4h) 2h in the city center = 77h Oh, and I should have built an Industrial Park in this city, so +2h there. The turn before, I only need 57 base hammers if I'm really careful, and while they'll still be 1/3 tiles and the like that turn (unchopped GA tiles), I'll also have 11 free specs to be Engineers and Citizens. So I think I can get the hammers required without too much difficulty, if I pop my 3-man Golden Age (have Eng and Sci, need GM, GA, or GPro). And I don't care if I starve; it's the last turn. Also, if I'm size 17 or 18 (size 16 right now), I get a little more room to work with.
Land Area is known through Demo screen (Gives 4 data points: Me, Max, Avg, Worst, so it's solvable):
Lewwyn has 1208 tiles Scooter has 1117 I have 1087 tiles Nakor has 793 tiles. Also, Lewwyn needs all of four techs: Fiber Optics Fusion Composites Ecology I need...uh...14. So I'm not winning this one. But I'll make a good run for it, and Lewwyn isn't being terribly efficient here at the end.
Also, my F8 is showing no data for him on the Space Race. I can't believe that he hasn't built any parts yet, so what's going on?
EDIT: Added a screenshot:
Also, WTF:
Lewwyn is saving Composites? Does he really want to worry about his 5th fastest city's inability to finish the part quickly??? Cyneheard Wrote:The last part will go to my NATIONAL PARK city. 11 forests. The Ecology part is cheaper and does have a doubler. So I always do that last. Should be easy to 1-turn that with those chops. Mostly I was just telling you to get to Fusion before both Genetics and Ecology. No idea what's up with that F8 screen. T-hawk Wrote:The Ecology part is cheaper and does have a doubler. So I always do that last. Should be easy to 1-turn that with those chops. Mostly I was just telling you to get to Fusion before both Genetics and Ecology. Well, I think since I can 1t the Genetics part, that means I end on Medicine --> Genetics, and then my IW city gets an extra turn to finish its engine. 1t with 11 chops is trivial for the Ecology part. That's 330 hammers *3.6...way more than 1000 hammers right there.
Starving matters a bit because the starved citizen doesn't work that turn, so don't count on its hammers if that matters.

Good to know, although I think the food deficit is only 10f and it's just one turn that matters. Since I shouldn't be starving in that city beforehand (and if I am, then I'm like size 18 where it doesn't matter if I lose a pop; the analysis was done at size 16), the granary will have more than 10f available.
Well, I know why F8 wasn't showing me anything:
Lewwyn just finished his first part. He finished it 1450AD, and finished Apollo 1370AD. That's respectable; we're talking about 40-45 base hammers in a city that had its lab up. 8t for my IW city is Supermarket + Lab + Thruster (POSSIBLY 7t, not sure). |
