My apologies to anyone who feels left in the dark, but I wanted to seek some counsel on how to handle some of the requests for access to the private demogame subforum. After considerable discussion, we feel it's necessary to restrict access to the forum to some degree. While this is atypical for Realms Beyond there are several unique characteristics about both this game and its players:
*This is an overtly competitive game, and we're approaching it with a more competitive spirit than most RB events. *Our fellow players do not all share our sportsmanship and sense of fair play. There have been instances of cheating in past demogames, as well as similar instances in other civ games from players on some of the other teams. *We need our subforum to be a place where people can be totally candid. Several players have indicated they would feel a chilling effect on what they would be willing to post or discuss with unlimited entry to the subforum. Of course most people would prove trustworthy, but past experience has shown a mere suspicion of compromised information can be unsettling to players. Therefore we have made the decision to restrict entry to some requesters. While no bright line test was used, we felt it was important to see either active involvement in our games and events, or a long history with some level of activity, or both. We don't do this lightly, and we may revisit this decision during the course of the game. Additionally a team is already in place to publicly share some information about the game so the larger lurker community can still have a window into it. Of course the multiple other pitboss games and dozens of PBEMs will remain open to lurk. And, when this demogame concludes its subforum will be opened and unrestricted as well. We hope this helps explain some of our reasoning behind this decision.
I completely understand the reasoning for the decision, but I'm still devastated I won't get to follow along.

I'll be following whatever info the team is willing to publicly share with us lurkers, and hoping that Sulla gets involved to the point where he'll do a write-up after it's all over. Either way, I'll look forward to the unlocked subforum after your eventual win so I can read the completely candid planning and trashtalk. I wanted to highlight this in case it got lost within the post. The team will be entertaining and I for one plan to follow it just as much as the internal discussion. It will lag behind the real game so that things told won't affect the current game, but at least you won't have to wait until the game is over to see what Team RB is up to.

Oh, ok. obviously not what I would have wanted, but great karma for making the effort to communicate. Also is it possible for lurkers to have a player list (so we can understand people not playing, e.g. spulla and pb8) Also in case I forget GO RB!!

Same for me, but I fully understand the decision. Perhaps we can get access around turn 50, when you are so far ahead it doesn't even matter if opposite teams see the thread

If you expect your competitors to cheat Dantski, then I don't know why you are even playing the game.
Well, I'm disappointed, but I can't say surprised, I figured it was perhaps 50/50, on the weight of potentially getting new contributors. I might still do the adventure anyways, if I can tear myself away from D3 long enough... which admittedly doesn't seem likely at the moment.
