[SPOILERS] DTG's Omnipotence Embodiment
|
Whoop whoop:
![]() I'm not sure what's happening here: I *do* know that ipecac and Khan made a Deer <---> Deer trade a few turns ago, and that ipecac settled 3 cities shortly after that... so, my guess is that ipecac stretched himself a little too thin, settled one too many cities in Khan's face, and that Khan decided to take a swipe at a stray Chariot/Worker/new city. It could be a phony conflict, I suppose, but both sides are suffering war weariness. ipecac's thread will doubtless contain more detail and griping than I can provide, so head there if you're mostly interested in blood and anguish. ![]() Still with me? Hey, look! I settled another city: ![]() You know the drill: I am greedily trying to settle three island cities to supercharge my GLH economy. I deliberately left Khan the Fish tile 3S1W of World Merging, so as not to start a culture war that would doubtless lead to an actual war. But I do have a Settler loaded for the spot 3S, 2E of World Merging, a separate island also near Khan's northern coast. Khan has a Galley in the area, so the spot isn't assured, but I will claim the Wheat via another city's (Nelapsi Physio's) culture in ~4 turns, and my chosen site is defensible. Otherwise, I'll try to settle an Incense city west of World Merging in the near future (it's not urgent). I just finished Mathematics this turn. With research at 100%, I can complete Currency in 3 turns, so I'm saving gold until that's possible. Al is still the tech leader, thanks to Fin/Org Darius and the Oracle, but my economy is a bit stronger now. As for long-term plans: I'm thinking about building the Pyramids in an abstract "wouldn't-it-be-nice to have..." kinda way. I have so many coastal cities to take advantage of the GLH, that Rep Scientists are more valuable than usual, and hooking up Stone should deter the other, non-Stone owning, Financial civs from competing with me. I could bulb my way to Astronomy and Engineering, which might prove more effective than building a stack of 2-movers. There seem to be a lot of hills and waterways on this map, and Galleons will protect my many coastal cities until Chemistry. In any case, setting up a Mids build won't be feasible for 15+ turns, so there's no hurry for me to decide.
City #12:
![]() ...randomly randomizes: For now, I'm out expanding everyone. ipecac is the player best keeping up: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This doesn't tell the full story, obviously. Alhazard's economy is bringing in +10GPT more than my own, for instance, and I feel like I'm falling behind on Worker production vs. my city count. Still, I'm happy with my position. It's possible that Khan could launch an amphibious attack against Nelapsi Physio from his Galley this turn. By 'possible', I'd imagine a 15% chance? Reasons to doubt an attack are: I have the largest military, Khan has the smallest; Khan and ipecac have been at war four times, so he shouldn't want another mortal enemy; Khan just lost an Impi fighting ipecac; Khan has nothing to gain from attacking me, besides doing damage; an amphibious Axe vs. my defender gets ~32% odds; Khan's own island city, 2S of his Galley, has zero defenders; Khan made no effort to hide his Galley and could simply be checking to see if I plan to boat him; war is expensive, and Khan needs more cities + Currency to stay relevant. Reasons to suspect an attack are: Nelapsi Physio hasn't popped borders yet... that leaves a 2-turn attack window before my defenders gain +20% from culture; my culture will also rob Khan of coastal tiles in his likely Moai city; my Scout sat on Khan's Deer for a turn in the early game: revenge is sweet; I'm probably the game leader, and this is an opportunity to hinder my development; Khan has declared war 5 times now, suggesting an above average level of aggression. Well, we'll see. If he did declare, I'd have no reason to make peace. ![]() Next turn is T90. I'll post some overview pics and graphs then.
T90 stitch:
![]() Culture: ![]() ![]() Demos, graphs and such. My 0% GNP is 75 (3rd): ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I'll get Currency on T93. T92 was possible, but only if I delayed several whips and worked coastal tiles > mines. City close-ups: I'll whip 7-pop on T91, which will suppress demos a bit. I'm done expanding in a south/south east direction, aside from one more island city. The land to my north is not great, but there are nice spots available in the west: ![]() I'm trying to shift some Workers towards this area in advance of any Settlers.

Speaking of micro:
![]() ![]() Randomizing names: ATP (not to be confused with the tennis association, btw) is far, far closer to LogicalTautology's core than my own: ![]() That's six tiles away from LT's capital, and twelve from mine. But I have fourteen cities now whereas he has six, so it was inevitable that I'd end up cramping "his" territory eventually. I hope wetbandit, LT's successor, doesn't take it personally. As for Tranq. Breath, this will be a long-term strategic linchpin: ![]() ![]() It's basically a canal city that connects three large lakes and, since I have a very strong naval presence on the southern lake (5+ coastal cities), this will relieve some pressure on my slightly more exposed northern and western cities. It is a shame that Forts are so intensive on Worker turns, though. I've not much else to report. HAK has taken over from Khan, while wetbandit has taken over from LogicalTautology. I wonder how this will affect the meta? Iron and Praets will be online in 3 turns. ![]()
My newest worstest city:
![]() I settled for the ICTR (+7GPT already) and, in the long-term, the Incense: I haven't seen any other sources of ![]() For naming: I founded Confucianism this turn in Nelapsi Physio. The RNG could have been worse: I'm not sure if it will matter, but this at least guarantees control over some disputed coastal tiles: ![]() I also offered HAK a Fish <--> Fish deal this turn. So far he's been a bit friendlier than Khan, but is exploring with a Chariot and Galley along two parts of my borders. I'm much more powerful than he is, but I'd rather not war at this stage, so I'd like to know his intentions. EOT97 demos: ![]() |
