Well, St.Gloriana settles Grotsnot' doom.

I am not seeing any chance he has against Alhambram who has at least some battle experience and will avoid obvious mistakes.

The question is how will the game proceed. Rome is in a terrible position if she is hit by early leader syndrom, attackable by all sides in the long term.

If Alhambram is smart and recognizes this, he will eye his next target up now.

GG powered legions could cut through Russia and then this game is done.

I am most curious. Shame that Grotsnot did not play it safer, but Holy Sites and a 3rd settler towards Rome. Wishful thinking is not gonna stop that attack. rolleye

It also shows that he did not scout enough. His fog starts 6 tiles east of his capital. With a bit more knowledge of the surrounding area he would see how obvious the attack on him is.

Starting to have doubts if I made the map right, but then again, people have seen the legion rush before..

Truly. As long as the resources were sufficiently accessible I don't think you should shoulder any of this.

I think Japan could have held the line with encampments as first build rather than holy sites. With all the mountains in the east, the encampments could have been located behind the passes such that only a single legion could move adjacent, and then get stuck in zone of control. Then with archers + encampments + city center firing away Japan should have been able to make the attack costly enough. As soon as Rome was identified as a neighbor the calculus needed to change to deterring the rush.

Is Grot planning to found on the Iron if he has enough time to get there? His pin is next to the iron but I didn't see a builder for the mine. If he does get enough time and can found on the iron to upgrade the warrior escort Japan might just be able to hold on and keep the Roman conquests in occupation if Alhazard can whip up a relief army in time.

Lurker etiquette question: Is it acceptable to ask Greece about not recruiting that Great General, given that I only know it from Russia's and England's threads? Like: "I saw elsewhere that you decided not to recruit the Great General. Care to comment?"

No, it's not acceptable, unless Greece specifically starts talking about it without prompting.

Hmm, shame about the GG screwup, the game would be more interesting. Rome is not unstoppable, but without a GG to balance the legions, things will get dicey.

Alhazrad thread is terrible to follow, croped image, signs and all, but from what I can see the defensive terrain does not really favour Greece.

All cities are before rivers not beyond rivers seen from the Roman side.

I very much fear for Chevalier, who rightly see this game going to the rush civ once again.
