RB Pitboss #2 [SPOILERS] - Peter of Byzantium

I also agree with Swiss. You did your best to make up for that. For what it's worth, i fully intend to play in the next RBPitboss or similar type of event and i've read both your threads fully. (which are excellent reads so for that i thank you)

I wouldn't distrust you or regard you as a 'rule-bender' if we bumped into each other ingame at some point smile

Email proposal to Kalin

Quote:As per my post in the IT thread of RBPB2 the solution to the 3rd archer being whipped after we played is to move that archer 1E of Athens this turn and then (if you want) move him back into the city next turn. That way he will not be part of any aggressions this turn and he will not be attacked by any unit this turn. This would allow the game to continue and not need a reload and one which we feel is acceptable. Hopefully we can get a clear consensus on what is and what isn't acceptable as a group before we continue too much further. Entering this game I had no idea war could be this complicated. And units would have definitely been moved differently had you whipped during your portion of the turn as well.

I don't know that I like it. Guess it might depend on whether this 4th archer is due in 1 or not.

I like the proposal of letting us whip it and then having them move differently if they want

Okay - here is my suggestion for an email - thoughts?

Quote:Thank you for your proposal. Unfortunately we feel like we can not agree to that. As sunrise posted in the IT thread, it was our belief that, based on precedent from the Apolyton game, we were able to whip at any point during the turn.

Had we realized that our whipping would have been a disputed action, we would have made our decision to whip within our window before ending turn.

We realize that the fact that we whipped (which as of this turn you now know is an archer) may have adjusted your moves, so, our proposal is to reload to before you played, allow us our whip, and then you are free to move however you feel is best

The hard time you get is because you seem to be quite often involved in such disputed moves.
Especially your riding the turnclock and logging in just before the turnover to do things (founding citys, whipping units etc etc) has positioned you into this 'cheesy'-corner.

Btw have you ever played the game' Diplomacy' ? A lot of your (masterfully crafted) letters and your actions reminds me of that.

Yes - I used to play that quite a bit online, so I am not surprised that it kind of bleeds through. I think there are a lot of similarities between Dip and MP Civ

You must have been one hell of an opponent.

Your diplo-work in Pitboss1 is a great read in that regard thumbsup

Thanks!

I was pretty good at email Dip in my "oh-so-humble" opinion lol

I never got many opportunities to play face to face though which most people consider the "true" experience. It's hard to get 7 people to commit 5-6 hours to a game.

The fact that you witness who talks with whom and for how long etc etc adds alot to paranoia lol

Right. I've played a few times but not very many. A few years ago, I tried to get a FtF group here where I live, and it worked okay - we got a few games going but never the full 7 players and never for more than 2-3 hours or so.

I played in a weekend face to face tourney once. It was great fun. I've tried playing with friends in college but we usually run out of time. FTF is so much more fun though.
