RB Pitboss #2 [SPOILERS] - Peter of Byzantium

Diplomacy is ridiculous. Also, never play someone who takes things too seriously.

Especially your riding the turnclock and logging in just before the turnover to do things (founding citys, whipping units etc etc) has positioned you into this 'cheesy'-corner.

Well, wouldn't you say that there's a pretty fine line between the "disputed" moves I'm getting raked over for and say, what the RB team did to Imperio in the Apolyton demogame?

I say that the backstab we pulled on Imperio was WAY "worse" than anything I've been involved in in either of these games. And that was lauded as a great move by everyone in this community (myself included).

Dunno - just reminds me of my favorite proverb.

:D

Well, Imperio was being weird and incompetant with the stupidly awesome start they got.

I was pretty good at email Dip in my "oh-so-humble" opinion lol

I never got many opportunities to play face to face though which most people consider the "true" experience. It's hard to get 7 people to commit 5-6 hours to a game.

Have you ever considered playing it at Origins? or Gen Con? Columbus is, what, 2 hours up I-71 for you? Indianapolis can't be that much farther. If you can afford to make the trip to one of them, I think you'd find it well worth your while. There are probably other opportunities near you as well if you'd really like to give it a shot.

I used to play it at cons a lot, and still do occasionally, but I tend more towards Illuminati to get my fix for this sort of game lately because actively encouraging opponents to underestimate me seems to work MUCH better for me in that game...

Personally I would accept a reload, but need to consult with Athlete about it. I would however prefer a proposal that doesn't require a reload as a lot of players played 2 turns and would be inconvenient for them. If you have any proposal that would allow us to continue without reloading please let us know. I do have something in mind, but again need to talk to Athlete first.

We're worse off if we cant hit their chariot and we still have our worker exposed. What if we agree not to hit the chariot and the chariot agrees to move away?

Uuh well since it was this community that did the backstab what do you expect? lol. I'm sure the Imperio-forum would tell a different tale. The same happens here the community of Rego applauds your moves the victims not so much wink.

Quote:Sorry guys, it looks like I'm the hold up here. I will accept a reload as well, however given that others don't want it in the interest of not reloading we have one last proposal. You don't attack our units and we don't pillage the mine this turn. If that's agreeable great, otherwise I guess we'll need a reload. Either way is fine by us.

Athlete for A/K

I say we take the reload. Of course, we still have the option to attack them the turn after, right? Since we would play first?

Should we ask them if their units will stay there or where they will go? Not sure if they'd tell us

I can't think of anything funny or clever to say here, so I'll continue to wish all of you luck in breaking the Ottoman choking attempt. (Been there before in some MP games, and it definitely sucks.)

And Jowy continues his 180 in tone towards us

Quote:Hello dear Byzantines.

I'll get right to the business smile Sorry to tell you this, but we aren't getting involved in the war against Ottomans. We've only just met them and have really nothing against them. Don't take this as anything personal, but I don't trust that you would just becomes our vassal and help us win even if we did get involved. You said it yourself, "ramblings of a broken and defeated old man", that's how this all sounds to me. Anyway if we ignore all the diplomacy aspects, which are ever changing, then it would make more sense to have Ottomans as a neighbour because their starting location is far away from us, while yours is very close. And on top of that, we are going full out economy, we couldn't send units even if we wanted.

We're pretty tight with India, though I've heard nothing of this 3-way alliance you brought up. It'd be a bit awkward considering that you wanted us to go aggressive against India, and India wanted us to go aggressive against you :D It'd be a good deal for you, you would get help against Ottomans. It would be a good deal for India, they would still have one way to attack. I'd be stuck in the middle. Sounds more like 2-way alliance to me!

Good luck with the war.
