I will do that! Let me know if any of the settings are wrong; I've never made one before, and I wasn't sure if e.g. the AIs mattered. I might have to do some sandboxing tomorrow morning instead of tonight; various things going on. I think the intial sandbox should be attached into this post though
Sorry, I did this weird thing called sleeping last night, so didn't see any of this.
Yes grow to size 3. Sloppy notetaking on my part. Also, obviously with the overflow you could also build another settler before 2nd worker. Really just depends what the land looks like. Could then 2 pop whip out a worker instead of chop 2 pop whip a settler. I didn't sim out that far as mainly I wanted to know if it mattered what we teched first. Tried some weirder openings as well, but those were the only 2 I found that looked reasonable. But ya I figure at least with the first 11 turns being the same, we have some time. Feel free to blow them out of the water though!
Feels as though we always start Agriculture into Hunting, and then the variation starts from there, based on a couple of quick sims I've done. I haven't been able to find anything better, and tried a BW one to confirm you were right about it: you are!
OK, game has started! Our password is 'falls' and here is a pic of what we found. Wines! And not much else.
Edit: ....Annnnd the picture works, so I should be able to consistently report! The next week and a half are very busy for my at uni, before opening up a lot, just so you guys know.
Looks juicy. I'd suggest E-E because that is a very possible 2nd city spot, and you don't want to miss a seafood.
Sorry, haven't found the time to sim, but hunting -> agri seems a clear choice (in that order because of the animal bonus, and we finish both before the worker, right?), so we have a bit of time still to work it out
Yeah, then my assumption was wrong, by all means have the worker farm the wheat on his first turn.
And woah, GKC is letting his grace rain upon us! That spot the scout is on is awesome already, and yes there might be more in the fog at this rate... Also it's not at all unlikely that there's a similarly nice location in the south, but in any case we don't have to worry that there will not be a good spot.
I was thinking either E-N or E-NW, but leaning towards N like you.
The super nice thing about this spot is it's already awesome first-ring, so won;t need to pop borders straight away either. Will be great to perhaps whip a lot of settlers and workers (especially these maybe) out of, and just grow while slow building other stuff. Especially if we steal the capital-sheep, that two 6(!)-food tiles, regardless of whatever else is in the fog! With two CHM happy we can go nuts on the whip, too.
Thanks for the close following and micro help, I can already tell this is going to go a lot better than last time. Which er.. wouldn't be hard, but it's still nice to know.
I had a quick go at improving the ivory before the deer to take better use out of our Mobility, but that is awful and would not recommend. Food>Hammers>commerce seems obvious, it just feels bad that we aren't using the mobility super early. I guess it will come into play more when we chopping the crap out of our forests.
