Scooter also went with civ first. Mongolia is again a UU centric pick. And its a pretty good one. I really fear those Keshiks. His starting techs are okay. Wheel loses that village again, but one could argue that is better than some of the other bonuses. Hunting though again loses the forest for the deer. That means a 5 yield tile instead of a 6 yield. The bonus is though that you are able to camp it immediately while teching Agr, so it's really not that bad. A good pick and one I like better than Byz actually.

It was actually a tech-centric pick for me oddly enough, Keshik/Ger was just a nice bonus. I actually didn't care for the village - I felt (and still kinda do) that working the village is a bit of a red herring as it slowed down growth on a map that was a land-rush map (the dimensions were large with not enough water for circumnav). So yeah, it was basically a tech-centric pick that gave me what I felt was a fast start. I'm reasonably happy with the pick even with hindsight.

Lewwyn Wrote:Leader, Leader why this leader? Scooter was the last to pick a leader and apparently he wanted IMP so bad he paired it with EXP. Now EXP gives you a hospital which is worthless. It also gives half price granaries which is one of the main reasons to take it. Also the worker bonus at the beginning of the game is nice but we all start with a worker in this game which is a small nerf. I think the biggest concern I would have with this pick is after the early game, what use are these traits? IMP gives you more GGs but that's about it. He will be fast out of the gate, but these traits don't help after that. Plus didn't he get enough of Joao in our Always Peace game? lol

Yes I got WAY too much of Joao in that game lol. Hated that game. One of the main reasons I wasn't psyched about my leader choice.

Also just a general comment, but your pre-game and early game posts in general have been quite funny and entertaining so far as I'm reading thumbsup. Also, you like to use the word huzzah. lol

Currency in. settler moving, 3 settlers building. Fuck everyone!@

This made me laugh. ALso, on city razings, not only did I miss that Serdoa razed your island city, but I also totally missed this:

Lewwyn Wrote:Oh and I razed one of Brian's cities... Sorry Brian. I probably should have just let you grow in peace and propped you up against the other players, but I only thought of it after my chariot killed your axe and I razed the city.

Had no idea Brian lost a city. I tried to keep an eye on score dips, but apparently I missed a couple. I think that means I win the prize of never having lost a city.

Anyways, that's where your thread ended. Curious what your thoughts are on the traits with the benefit of hindsight? Would you have chosen differently?
