I'll just say so it isn't rushed I'm not sending out a map to start before the 21st, and then whenever we/I feel it's ready after then is when we'll start.

I appreciate the offer Bacchus. I've gotten several teaming offers already -- more than I can say yes to -- so i will have to think about it. I also haven't done a Civ4 game on my own in forever, although i don't know if i will do that if there continues to be such a high level of interest.

I guess i need to think about it. If you get a good opportunity i won't begrudge your taking it

This is going to be a nice big sprawling game where newbies and nightmares spawn next door to one another, a barbarian warrior will pee in someone's cheerios and the settling race will be lost, and a lurker will incite sin. That's all part and parcel of the big tent games; I like random events because that's frankly further endorsing the casual, loose nature of these games.

Casual please, folks. Try to win, by all means, but the chief reason PB5 and PB8 were so damn fun was how everyone went the extra mile to keep from playing clock games or abusing mechanics.

Uh, a non-casual game does not mean you should be playing clock games or "abusing mechanics." There is a scale from casual to competitive, and then there is a scale from honorable to despicable. Those two things are on the latter scale (although I'm not quite sure what "abusing mechanics" refers to).
