Nothing like the Prodigal Sons: The Odd Couple actually play as themselves.

It was a good test whether Ichabod had died and made him arbiter of all pauses, which apparently he has.

Oh by the way I was napping earlier when you messaged me, if you didn't get my response about it.

What? Just to be clear, only expect me to act as an admin when someone asks me to. I won't be voluntarily trying to solve every single dispute (or whatever pausing the game means) in this game. If you need something, just ask or PM me.

I'm always amused by people giving out free trade routes. -15??? For reference, our costs are currently 16. I'm inclined to think this is all in one trade, because it matches the rival best +15. Yes, let's give an opponent free money. crazyeye

You should know by now that randomly blaming people is much more fun than trying to find something productive to do about the issues that crop up.alright

t79 - Gavagai and Some Sneaky Peeky Spying

So Gavagai retreated his Axe - it appears his primary intent here was to get that Sentry Chariot on the hill and wait for an opportunity. Rough Estimate but it will probably take at least 2 Axemen and a Spear to dislodge the convoy from that hill. Yeah, probably we're not seeing that amount of spare units anytime soon.

You'll note borders in the extreme NW for Gavagai's new city, Nitrogen.

I've half played the turn. The units with Yellow Lines underneath them still have movement AND are not dead certain to stay in place. I'll move West to East in discussing them.

* Harding, the furthest west worker can either go 2SE and road the wheat or NE and road the plains tile. Plains tile helps with logistics around Plame slightly, Wheat is the road we need for eventual Superfood city. I think the Wheat road is more relevant right now.

* Skirmisher SE of Harding is now fully healed. I would probably send him 7-9 for options near Plame. He could also go back south since we need a unit near healthcare.gov soon enough.

* Axeman in Iran Contra is now healed and can stay or move towards Plame. I think we're whipping that worker this turn, so I think he can go.

* Johnson, on the Corn is either Roading the Corn or moving N to start a chop for Teapot Dome's Granary or doing something Noble sees that I don't.

* Grant, on the Teapot Dome city center is almost certainly moving to the Gold and then roading and then mining. The Teapot Dome settler has already moved and is in Iran Contra. He moves to the city tile next turn and founds on t81.

Other decisions that need to be made:

  1. Are we sticking with that Axeman build in Plame Affair? I assume we stick for one turn before swapping to a FH unit, probably a worker.
  2. Are we whipping Iran Contra? Worker is currently a 2-pop whip. Iran has 2 whip unhappy at the moment though one wears next turn. It is obviously currently unhappy.

I'll be in and out of gchat but the turn rolls in ~3 hours. Noble, feel free to log in and complete the moves if you don't see anything else worth discussing. If I don't hear from you before then I'll log in around 11 and do what I suggested above.

Grant could road in place this turn and again next turn before the settler moves to found the city 1t sooner. Is this worth delaying hooking gold by 2t? No idea, depends on happy cap/growth elsewhere. Getting the mine online sooner (and thus ignoring the road in place bit to found sooner) would certainly help the happiness situation in IC, getting the gold 2t sooner. It appears that we're currently running low on improved tiles in IC, so whipping now makes sense. Getting the worker sooner would help alleviate this problem. But does IC get the corn back immediately to regrow or does TD take the corn to grow quickly to size 2?

Double whip IC: IC works cottage/pig, TD works corn immediately. But, TD also lacks a granary so the bonus food is less helpful there than in IC initially and IC can regrow faster to get ready for another whip (or not, given unhappiness counter) by using the corn. Unless we have a super secret plan to pop borders quickly in TD, in which case we can use the chop for a WB after whipping the granary at size 2, aided by working the corn first in TD rather than IC.

I don't think that settling TD 1t faster is worth all of these kind of contortions. Probably none of that made any sense. I'm just giddy that PB11 is over. Basically, my plan requires a random religion spread, so just do that.

Anyway, if you do whip IC, what would you prefer to overflow into? Would it be better to continue working on a settler after the worker to wear down some of the whip anger? I really am terrible at figuring this stuff out without looking at it. I should log in (and not touch anything) and look around to figure this out. Maybe tomorrow if work isn't unreasonably stupid like it was today.

Honestly, was this even remotely helpful? lol

Turn played, most of next turn played, Gavagai trolled expertly. I'd say there's roughly a 100% chance that last post in his thread is bitching about me.

or more specifically:

I’m the best troll in the game. When you try me with a sorry troll like Gavagai, that’s the result you gonna get. Don’t you ever talk about me. Don’t you open your mouth about the best or I’m gonna shut it for you real quick.

I'm looking forward to seeing this.

P.S. what do you think of Arsene's grouching?
