My thought was that the city has to cap out on something eventually. Eventually there will be no more coast for it to work, and it'll have to work a tundra hill - or silver if we had settled one tile off it. But as I thought about it, I realized this would be so far in the future that the saved worker labour/faster silver connection was probably worth the tradeoff.
Whip/draft push that very far in the future, although you're right that it'll occur eventually.

Why is the game paused? We should post at CFC about it. No one has requested a pause - why is it paused?

CivFr simply said that they needed a pause, they paused it, and the game has been stuck in limbo for the last 12 hours. CivPlayers has actually been logged into the game continuously for something like the last 7 hours for some reason.
Now in the past, any time that a team just decided to pause the game, one of us would quietly unpause the game again a few hours later to keep it moving. But because of the wartime turn split, we can't log into the game to get it rolling again. And then even when CivFr does unpause the game, we'll still have to wait another 19 hours to play (because you know how teams don't ever end turn until the clock is about to hit zero), and then we'll still have to wait for CFC to play their half of the turn after that. It's a total disaster; we waited 5 days for the last turn, and we're looking at another 5 days for this turn. Someone (plako?) please help.
I understand pausing it for them when their turn player can't connect for the few hours he had to play the turn, so I can't too annoyed at them... but Plako suggested a pause with 2-3 hours left on the timer, which seems like about the best we could hope for. Unfortunate to see that ignored, because now the other teams will drag their feet too.

Let's just declare war on everyone and then pause the game for a month when we're the only team that can log in.
