He chose to settle on the 4/0 marsh rice tile along the coast. That gave the capital a 3/1 center tile but removes the opportunity to farm that rice tile down the road which would turn it into a 5/0 tile. High food tiles are extremely rare in Civ6 as there's almost nothing that grants more than 3 food until reaching the lategame. Giving up that tile is especially bad since there are lots of high production tiles nearby that a rice farm would allow the capital to grow onto. Furthermore, moving onto the coast is a poor choice because water tiles are terrible in Civ6, with normal terrain having 1/0/1 yield and even improved crabs only being 1/0/5. You really, really do not want the capital's borders occupying so many of those weak tiles instead of far superior land tiles. Greenline has already put himself in a serious hole compared to the other players right from the start.

I also see several players going for scout-heavy openers which I've never particularly liked. I think some of them are being influenced by Multiplayer videos on YouTube, but those players use a modded version of the game as well as turning barbarians off and goody huts on. I guess we'll see if the barbarians punish any of these light military openers.

I guess my Civ6 knowledge is a bit rusty. I thought that the bad costal tiles were a worthy tradeoff for getting the extra adjacency bonus on harbors and making shipbuilding easier.

is Julius Caesar one of the leaders worthy of putting in the OP / ban pile? The ability is RNG dependent, but getting constant 300 gold infusions early in the game seems absurd. Or being able to farm 700 gold camps later in the game from the tundra or the desert.

Yuris is playing farmers gambit bit too much and Woden is about to punish him for it.
Also Archduke is gearing up for war against Pindicator/Whosit, interesting times indeed.

I wonder if Immortals have enough sauce to actually kill a player with a handful of cities and a handful of warriors. Otherwise it might be a very grindy engagement.

Wodens one a war in a previous game with Immortals, but it was against a player with maybe 3 cities? Yuri is tenacious, is going to get horsemen out, and should be able to get a walls or two so I don't see him dying here (usually it take far more effort than it's worth to take out Yuri)

Wondering whether Yuris could have chopped walls with Magnus in Sheffield?
He did have two builders around Sheffield when invasion happened.

I think I spent more time worrying over the map on this game than the blasted players are going to spend playing it.

Drat the RNG that gave Archduke Caesar.

10 turns Archduke says? Basil got banned for being 20 turns faster than Theodora. 10 turns is less than that but it happens much earlier in the game so those turns are much more impressive. So I would ban JC.

Just for some perspective: TheArchduke's Caesar finished conquering his second opponent two turns earlier in this game than Whosit's Trajan declared his first war last game. That one started much too slowly, as has been mentioned, but this one was lightning-fast.

Yeah, I can feel that, definitely.

Sorry, just catching on threads. I didn't have any forests to chop (the two forests the city had went into Pyramids) and didn't have BW to chop jungles. BW finished the turn the city fell, and I had builders ready to chop if it didn't fall
