[SPOILERS] Don't mention the war

Square Leg Wrote:Hey plako - looking good.

I presume you are thinking of pottery for cheap Graneries? I would probably go for BW first just because it enables chopping and whipping. You are SPI and so can swap straight away to slavery. If you are going to chariot rush someone then getting that early production will be key.

Mainly Granaries, but Horse city could also use early cottages assuming I can handle the food situation without farming Flood plains. I've simulated things out and even if I could use whip/chops I don't think they're making a big difference and I can do alright even if I delay BW a bit.

I'm not yet sure what I will do with Chariots. I definately won't build many of them early. I could build few and send them to look for trouble. Maybe I could send scout beforehand to check things out. Other alternative is that I just build couple of them for early home defense and use them as sentries and against those who decide to settle towards me too aggressively.

One of the early benefits of Spi is that you can get a late BW without expensive anarchy for slavery. Early BW makes more sense for non-spi civs.
I have to run.

very true, I hadn't considered that. I guess I always try to get slavery and pottery early!

Nothing much to report so here is the current MM plan.

Plinho moved west and will in few turns start revealing new tiles there.

Worker is pasturing pigs. After that it will build a road W from capital and then mine/road the hill NW from it. This way we can get settler a bit faster in position.

Other worker is ready in 2T and will move to form flood plains and half build a road when going there.

I'll probably start a warrior after the worker and grow to size 4 before starting the settler. Other alternative is to start settler immediately or at size 3, but having just 1 warrior defending all these workers and cities just doesn't feel right.

Much appreciated. I think I'll use these as city names also and e.g. jr to unit names. Next warrior is ready in ~4T. I won't name workers.

Pace of this game has been ok in PBEM standards, but since I don't have the save now here is some irrelevant speculation.

Few days ago I spotted this.

Catwalk Wrote:One more newbie question: When are units produced in MP games, at the start of the turn or the end of the turn? Ie. if my warrior finishes next turn, will it be complete when my opponents do their turns? I assume the former, but need to be 100% certain.

This could be just innocent question, but Catwalk is also playing his 1st PBEM in greens game so there is a fair chance he is asking it for a reason. Naturally this is not a big surprise and not very useful info even, if the cause would be someone elses warrior close by. We already know there must be someone close to us.

Then back to my game. I think I'll take Pottery after mining and cottage the flood plains instead of farming it. While I wait for Pottery/BW coming I've time to mine hills and build few roads.

Still quiet. At least next turn I should see couple of new tiles when warrior goes by the worker. Pigs will improved also (how exciting lol). Another worker finished at the end of turn. 1st task is to improve hill near the jungle to prevent it from spreading to my capitals BFC.

Pasture ready and another worker moved in position. It will build 1T road and then start Mining.

Corn was revealed in the west. Obvious spot to settle would be the desert hill, but horses would be on 2nd ring.

Unsuprisignly having pigs improved has given us #1 crob yield position:

Might be worth it to go for religion for the border pop.

Good idea. However I think we want Pottery and BW before heading to religion. So at the earliest ~T37 that is quite late to get horses and might be too late to get early religion. Let's check the areas north from the horses before deciding what to do.
