I had slaved/produced some 20 canons and parked 50 of my existing cuirassiers on the Zanth/Gavagai border to show muscles and make myself look like very unattractive lunch. If I knew I am secure from there I would had raised hell on Furungy's west half as I know he is very weak right there right now.
This turn something very very interesting and intriguing had happened. Mardoc, who is smaller than the Z/G duo, but is somewhat ahead in the techs I think, had gifted me 2 airships. Initially I was like "Wow! What nice of Mardoc to provide me with this advanced way of reckon, either he is really nice guy or I must be very likeable to receive such gifts". Seconds later I realized what those gifts most probably are for as I started to see a pattern. One was gifted in a city nearby Furungy's border (still outside his visibility) and the other gifted in a city near Dick's oversea border where Jowi's lands were just some 10 turns ago (again outside his visibility). I believe those two were gifted to point my attention at the fact that any of those 2 guys have barely any defense in the area and to make me attack them. I know this is king's present and there is something to be asked from me for it. Most probably he is planning on attacking himself one of them, so he needs an accomplice and he believes I am bloodthirsty and warlike enough to just attack someone if I see even a sign of weakness in someone. Which sounds like recognition for me. I had worked hard enough it seems this game by killing off those who attacked me and declaring war to 4 nations in the last 15 turns.
Attacking Dick is out of question. I am not in a position to make oversea invasion, especially with the tech difference. Redcoats vs cuirs and muskets, transported by galleys. Not going to work nor to happen.
Attacking Furungy I had the idea just 2-3 turns ago myself, (I even went ahead and made a draft and put signs where I attack at which turn and where I move stacks) but then I decided to play it sane and bolster my western border with Zanth/Gavagai, which numerous rifles, cavalries and canons just happen to been left unemployed, as his war with Nakor is done. Nakor have 1 more city, but it is clearly in Dick's sphere of influence.
I have to think. Maybe, just maybe, if Mardoc attacks Furungy first, I might join the party. But if I am not going to join, I must return the gift... I dont know.
