Well crap! frown

No idea what to do now (I'm dead after all); maybe find the next pod and see how that goes?

I'm in favor of running away. With only half your squad left and only one pod gone chances are that none of them will come back if you don't. Also you got loot, it would be a shame to lose it.
What's happens if you fail the mission ?

Sorry, I should have mentioned the Muton thing. I didn't want to spoil things too much, but I didn't think you would get crit by one.
Surprise! Turns out I'm a girl!

After some thinking I'm going to say no, we can't. Which makes me strongly lean toward evacuating.
What we could try is run around rescuing civilians until we have 6, while trying to avoid fighting. Then evacuating when we're done or if we get into a fight.
I'm not sure if accomplishing that objective actually does anything for us. The game might punish us just as badly as if we didn't rescue anyone.

In the last campaign we lost contact with the region and had to spend 40 Intel to get them back. That would not be bad at all.
The Wiki OTOH says that the consequences are huge. So there could be more to it.

In old xcom ( or xenonauts, which I just recently bought and am trying) such casulties are expected and just mean you need to group surivors more, cover less ground per turn.

New Xcom, with pods balanced against a full squad your odds are significantly lower.

Back off.

You'll probably get wiped if you keep going, I'd abort.  I guess you can't immediately retry with a new team?

Mission 9: Operation Outer Mist (continued)

We evac'd and brought the bodies with us. Gotta check if we get any of the upgrades back.

Only 5 enemies left, maybe it would have been doable? At least two of them were ADVENT soldiers (we saw them kill civs in the fog).

Dp will probably miss the next few missions.

We lost contact with Eastern US. Let's see if we can get them back before the next supply drop.

I played this yesterday after the first mission was cut short.

Base Management: Road To Recovery

7 days to the next Supply Drop. It takes 3-5 days (random roll?) to re-contact the region. We'll make it in time!

Finally we can get some armor built! Once we have the required supplies, that is.

For our next research project I selected the MEC breakdown to get improved Gremlins (those are the drones that our Specialists use).

We finished scanning the Scientist rumor and received our third Scientist. AFAIK they just boost your tech rate, but will have diminishing returns the more of them you have.

One of the Supplies rumors disappeared at this point, but another popped up in its place. We headed out for it.

End of the third month.

With it, new Dark Events. Interestingly the Breakthrough event has evolved from Minor to Major. We might be cutting it close if we allow that to go through.

Advanced Warfare Center is ready. With the loss of two high ranked Soldiers, we probably haven't missed out on any AWC special promos tongue

MEC breakdown finished. We can now build a stronger drone. The new armor will take priority though.

Next tech will be Psionics. With that, we'll be able to train a new class: Psi Ops. As you'd imagine, they use psionic powers. Of course, we'd first have to build the place where you train them, and we have a long queue of overdue buildings.

A new Alien Facility appeared. It's only one region away so it's more relevant right now than the one in Russia. To remind you, we have to assault these to slow down the Avatar Project.

Another room cleared. As much as I would want to get those buildings going, we have to save supplies to build the new combat stuff we've acquired.

Speaking of the Avatar Project, it gained another pip. It's now up to 9 out of 12. That said, we're going on the Blacksite story mission before the month ends. That is supposed to push it back.

We scanned 7 days for 57 fucking supplies?!  rant We could have gotten 272 supplies in 3 days from the monthly Supply Drop!

Before we could get to it, new Guerrilla Ops missions popped up:

Option 1.

Option 2.

Option 3.

I went for Option 1, New Mexico. I've been told that it's not a big deal if the Avatar Project gets maxed out, that you still get a countdown timer with 3 weeks to push it back.
However I'm paranoid that we'd fuck something up and lose the campaign. That's why I chose to counter the Major Breakthrough dark event. Otherwise might have gone with Option 2.

Yes! We can afford it. Forgot to screenshot the effects. It gives us an extra 4!!! health and adds an utility item slot.

We did get the upgraded weapons back from Dreylin and Sareln. The amazing +25 dodge enhancement was gone though.

I upgraded a bunch of weapons. I don't remember them all anymore. I'll make a list of all the upgrades our soldiers have at some point. I guess lurkers will at least care at what their own character has, if nothing else tongue

I burned the rest of our supplies on the Gremlin Mark II and two Nanoscale Vests (+1 HP). We had more utility slots to use with the new armor, but there was a condition: One character couldn't have two grenades (of any type) in their utility slots.

Adrien was back from the infirmary. We rolled out with our regular double grenadier setup. Sunrise and Fenn took the now deceased Sareln's and Dreylin's spots. This is the second mission for both IIRC.
I would especially like to get promos on Jkaen for Shredder and Sunrise for Combat Protocol (which will now do 4 guaranteed damage with the new drone!)

Both assumptions are correct.

Probably a bit late to mention, but rumors that give you supplies are never worth your time.
