I think i have an idea of who is to my west.
Swapped my EP to him, as i no longer care if OH/Chum can see what im teching. HBR due in roughly 7-8 turns, maybe more, maybe less, depending on what commodore does with his spear that he landed in a forest next to my barb city.
The situation^ Im hopeful that he only landed a settler on that island, and decided to continue scouting with the spear on the galley. While it IS in his best interest to take out this city so that he has total control of that fish, i do have the option of retaliating by sending waves of HA's/WC's at him till we both die. I sent him a peace treaty, and im roading towards the city now. I have an extra spear that will be at that city in 3 turns. Commodore can of course get extra lucky 2 times in a row and raze the city, but im hopeful he will see this as just asking for a pb41 rematch.
Production is #1 in the world, but everything else is pretty lacking. Im going to attribute that to lack of super precise micro, and RNG gods for cursing me with rather bad combat luck this game.
All n All: Not super happy having Commodore as a neighbor, especially when it looks like he is being very balsy for someone that built 2 big wonders, is INDIA, and is probably prodding a Egypt with nothing to lose. Yeah, Spears>WC's. but 10 WC's will beat 2-3 spears. Unless you have my luck.
"Superdeath seems to have acquired a rep for aggression somehow. In this game that's going to help us because he's going to go to the negotiating table with twitchy eyes and slightly too wide a grin and terrify the neighbors into favorable border agreements, one-sided tech deals and staggered NAPs."

I was both cursed and blessed by RNG today. Commodore's spear got hit ONCE by my WC when he attacked, and then i was able to clean up with my 2nd WC at 36.9% odds. I set my units to auto-promote because i now have a very low hp WC on the border with OH/Chum, and he has 2 archers he could attack with.
Settling another city next turn, with workers in place to chop out a library to get the resources into the border. Library finishes in the capital thanks to 80 hammers of overflow from the settler. Going full steam ahead to HBR, and then flip a coin on going for Commodore's head... and trying to keep a defensive border with him while slowly eating Chum. Both options are appealing. On the one hand, i end both Commodore's chances ( i think ) and mine of winning and on the other hand, i get a decent shot at pulling a win myself providing that Commodore accepts the new 10t peace i sent. Cheeky bastard.
Not impressed with my demos, but with commodore not wanting to play nice.. I consider that 2nd in pop to be an asset. A very... asset.
The details on how i plan on winning will be coming soon. Yes, they will include as much micro as i can stomach.

My WC lived, and is back in the city to start healing. Commodore didnt accept the peace, nor send a ceasefire.. So going to be pumping some defensive units out over the next few turns.
#1 in land area is nice. #2 in production will be handy Overall not terrible considering my lack of motivation for a couple of turns.
General overview, i plan on a city somewhere near the "City?" sign to the southeast, pending further scouting. Commodore has Stonehenge, so im focusing on a library to maybe steal that wheat AND get a firm hold on that fish. Eventually House of Thule will be a very strong city.
Key:
Line= rough line of travel.
Circle= Stack meetup/staging spot.
Square= Going to capture that city.
Hexagon= secondary staging point after the first city capture.
Overly complicated, but it will help me remember the plan. Saving gold for 2-3 turns, then ripping thru HBR. Going to get as many HA's as i can out by t95. t95 is my Attack date. Based on what i can tell, OH/chum's tech rate and power shouldnt climb high enough to get many/any HA's of their own before im stomping into the capital. Going to use capture gold to get to currency. Long term plans are up in the air depending on what Commodore decides to do. Im still not happy that he decided to poke and prod, is he wanting some kind of fued? I can give him one, although id rather not.
Ill have to run a test or two if its worth the hammers to get stables, vs another 3 or so HA's. He wont have metal, so his best defenders will be archers with a 20-35% chance of being ran over by my HA? Going to need to find a good combat calculator.

Heading for HBR-currency Why? This is why:
Gavagai is supplying OH with copper. So im taking my 10t peace ( OH declared on me with a chariot, i assume trying to get a free shot on me ) and im going to fill my border cities with archers/axe/spears. I will be building WC's/HA's until i hit top power, then im rolling some dice to see who i hit. OH/chum, and try and eat what i can? Commodore, to see if i can dislodge his likely winning status? Who knows!
Workers are being built to keep cottages/chopping happening throughout the empire! Units will be made basically from here on out.

I had a hard look at the state of my empire and decided i still have a pretty good shot at this game. So i thought pretty hard on how to accomplish that, and decided i need to cut OH/chum in half.
Going to be pumping up that population and food demos real quickly here.
Overview showing where/the order of my next 2 cities ill be planting ( in addition to any i might conquer from OH/chum ) My biggest objective that i think i can accomplish is securing the Aztec gold. I need the extra happiness to grow onto more cottages.
Working on getting a road or two setup, but priority is getting the library completed AND chopping any nearby forests that Commodore/OH/chum troops could use as cover. As you can see from the screenshot, that worker that is working the cow will finish soon and then go and chop the forest south of that city. My additional worker from the north will be coming down and chopping the forest north of the cow to quicken the library for superior culture. Both the spear and archer will be going to House of Thule, and the War Chariot from HoT will be setting up with any other units i can scrounge up for an eventual attack on OH/chum.
The worker south of the horse will be moving to the forest west of his current location to begin a chop, which will finish the library. The capital will be producing a worker EoT which will go to the forest west of the horse to chop into the granary that blackburrow will need. Both of those workers will then road/wait for border pop to hook up the wheat + cow. Blackburrow should be a monster city down the road with all the food+production i could ask for.
In the top right of that screenshot, the worker building a cottage will finish that and move to the forest west of the wheat to chop into a settler for the "city to work cottages" spot. Units will be shit out very soon. I have 9 turns of peace with OH/chum to abuse, and im hoping Commodore accepts either the peace ( for 10t of safety ) or the ceasefire so i can play without worrying about turn splits for now. He probably wont, but i can dream cant i?

Barb spear popped to the east of Skyshrine ( oh/chum border city ) i really hope it doesnt start burning my rice and just heads for their capital. If it suicides on my spear/archer defense i wont be sad tho. Ive been looking into what i can get done in the 8turns of peace i still have with chum/oh and decided i can probably get another chop done, and a couple roads finished. Im pushing a settler out in roughly 5t from now, which will go and plant at the cottage spot. 2nd city will be building a worker after its WC, which will be on cottage duty along with another worker. Rest of my workers will probably be cutting down trees for a good... 25t or so. Lots of forests to cut. Lots of units/buildings to be made. So long as Commodore doesnt appear out of the blue with a fleet, or fast worker'd thru the jungle with a stack.. i should be fine.
Here's hoping that chum makes a bunch of mistakes though once he comes back.

Well the barb spear decided to head towards me as expected. I whipped the axe inside as i have the spare happy, and dont want my rice potentially destroyed.
House of thule is going to get 2 forests going into that library before the peace treaty is up with OH. The one south of the city, and the one south of that WC. HoT will be working on 1 more archer, then probably whipping out WC's. Skyshrine will likely do roughly the same.
Blackburrow will have its library complete in 2t, which puts its borders expanding t95 or so. Those two workers will be working on roading and anything they can really do while waiting for the border pop. Capital has a chop lined up + WC overflow to go into a settler next turn, which will make that a 3-4 turn settler. Working a bunch of cottages will make it pay for itself very quickly.
Considering i failed a rush? Demos arent bad. I expect to take a lead in population soonish, and my food numbers will grow steadly.

First off. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck ( i say in the most un-hateful way ) Commodore. Why?
This nice scenario. He can check the garrison/forest with his workboat... and depending on what he has on board he can probably kill that WC + a worker. OR he will unload 1-2 units SW of Blackburrow, and along with that god damn spear, force me to abandon a bunch of worker stuff i had planned. Im sure all of this is perfectly planned by him or something to that degree, and yeah, its in his best interest right now to help Chumchu by containing me. However, depending on what happens this next turn or two.. Im strongly considering just whipping a non-stop army and saying hi. Its frustrating, i finally feel like i have a solid plan ( not super micro'd ) but a solid plan, im thinking i have a decent shot at winning one of these pitbosses and commodore is sinking production/units into harassing me. Its been a hell of a day, and because of how long these pitbosses are taking to go to the next turn... im going to take that time and think about what im going to do about this commodore situation.
Also to top it off, my south-eastern most city has a barb spear coming for it. Yippie.
Cant wait to see how these demos look in a couple turns

While i did have time to think more calmly about the situation, i logged in to some more lovely rng bullshit.
Why did this spear need to hit my chariot so many times? Id rather it just got a lucky roll and killed it than almost kill it with only 22.7% chance of winning.
Not exactly the same situation, as his axe is damaged, not being attacked amphibiously, and RNG owes me alot from this pb so far.
I have a plan in place here, but im still fairly salty that commodore has been like this, PLUS i have to eventually pay him back for pb41.. that i almost want to throw away my plan and replace it with total-war. Ive offered him several ways out. I know i can survive both chumchu and commodore for a very long time, which will cause them to both forfeit winning this game as i would hope that Gavagai will eat chum eventually, or someone ( donovan? ) is on the other side of commodore to run over him after he has been slowly eating away at my sanity.
I know that chumchu is going to be planning some sort of attack soon. Im still at war with commodore, he has copper from gavagai ( thanks buddy ) and a good avenue for attack. So while i have the defense of House of Thule covered, im going to try and trick chum into thinking im moving a bunch of garrison out of skyshrine. Ill have enough WC's, plus defenders to prevent chumchu from taking the city with anything less than like.. 10 units or so. So prepare yourselves lurkers, its going to get hot here soon.
Oh, and i pop a settler EoT which will settle next turn. Fun stuff!
2nd in production, 5th in power. Lets see how that looks like 5t.
