This should be entertaining.
Superdeath is correct, 10 WCs will beat 3 Spears most days. 250 hammers worth of units vs 90 hammers is a shitty trade. And it looks like the fighting will be on SDs home turf.
Commodore doesn't have to make any territorial gains to win. He just needs to disrupt SD at a cheap cost. With Chumchu headed for HBR or IW Commodore looks to be well positioned to stall SD and then clean up once Chumchu comes back for revenge.

HA!
1 spear for 2 WCs is in Commodore's favour in terms of hammers. Wonder what else he's got in the galley pipeline?

Probably nothing, other than maybe another garrison unit for the one-tile island. Commodore's sparse reporting makes it hard to be certain what exactly he was thinking, but it looks to me like that galley attack was a strike of opportunity. The spear was coming over to defend Bhall's Bane, but then the city's borders revealed a newly conquered barbarian city, so the spear sailed on past to see if it could do anything about it. Now that the spear is dead and the opportunity is gone, I expect that they will make peace.

I don't see any reason for Comm to make peace as long as DZ is at war with Regentman. He might prosecute a phoney war, or he might try again with a more significant force, but as long as SD is willing to weaken himself at little cost to Comm, that's probably fine as far as Comm is concerned.

Great, fell asleep and woke up to find OH in a game. Boats for the boat gods!
Haven't been paying too much attention, why didn't SD choke chumchu after the rush failed?
More people have been to Berlin than I have.

superdeath Wrote:Long term plans are up in the air depending on what Commodore decides to do. Im still not happy that he decided to poke and prod, is he wanting some kind of fued? I can give him one, although id rather not. Well SD, (a) you have a reputation for being an aggressive neighbor, (b) Commodore has nothing to lose by rattling your cage from a position of relative strength as long as his other border is safe, and (c ) he has a rational motivation to want to solidify his claim on the fish for his island city. So it makes sense that he is going to force you to defend yourself, as long as he (correctly) thinks you can't materially damage him, and are likely to be weakened by his prodding.
Otherwise... SD continues to evince his typical overestimation of his own empire and underestimation of his rivals. Banking on capture gold to limp to currency when you have a preferred attack date but no real firm idea of how many defenders you'll be facing? Planting a city so far to the SE when costs are high, you have 2 hostile neighbors, and your empire is already very spread out, instead of strengthening your internal lines with a city closer to the capital? It seems to me that SD is asking to be punished for overreach.

I think it just didn't occur to him. If a war can't be decisive, he seems reluctant to consider it at all - probably why he's so irritated with Commodore too. Commodore can't take and hold any Egyptian cities right now, even if he can inflict disproportionate pain.
Honestly I'm also not sure why Superdeath decided to go for horse archers at all. I suspect that war chariots will have the same efficiency in terms of lost hammers per city taken, and an ancient-era war aiming for extinction is the wrong time to worry about war weariness. I can see the argument that it's wasn't worth spending the hammers immediately, but I think he'd have been happier to go for the choke and pick up Currency now instead of horse riding. I don't think horse archers are going to save him any time or any hammers in this war.

At this rate it looks like chumu is going to stay in the game thanks to Commodore and Gavagi.
I have a feeling that superdeath might actually disappear before chumu since Commodore is probably going to go eat superdeath at some point.

I reckon it's just play on: even if it is a double move on DZs part, that's always been allowed on the first turn of the war by the player being invaded, and I don't see how the war with Regent man affects that as DZ hasn't ended turn and we don't have evidence that he has ignored that turn split.
