Soon Gavagai, soon...

Gav offered back Embassytown for peace. It’s turn 96, what have we accomplished Gav?

Well now I have a lot of power and nowhere to go...

Did you accept peace? Because nothing says you have to stop with 1 city.

I accepted peace, incremental and free > ambitious and expensive. Plus for the relatively low price of 2 whip unhappy, it came with 2 pop, a granary, a monument, and walls.

I'm a little torn. Random map games shouldn't be played tryhard, it's a mockery, the land is just too wildly different. So I was leaning towards "Lessons need to be taught", but I just don't think I can do it to Gav atm. Because trying to wade through that many hills with about... ohhhh, 6 (7?) crossbows and 0 siege won't exactly leave a lasting impression in anyone's mind.

The plan to take his horse city with boats and spawn 4 horchers in his backlines via greed quest was cute, but I think this is better, because it really poetically nails the futility of his earlier move.

Gav sent fish for fish. That's so deeply hilarious to me. WE COULD'VE HAD THIS FROM THE BEGINNING.
I sent back fish for fish with a demand for stone, then followed with a demand for stone. I figure I should sulk a bit and play hard to get.
Stone is for Moai. I suspect he refuses because he might be making an attempt at Mids.

let's see what Commodore has ready for us.

Edit: looking at the screenshot I'm belatedly realizing that I betrayed our 50 turn old fish for fish. Well it was getting a bit stale after 1000 years, usually I try and consider fish sacred for the duration of a normal trade deal, like ten turns. I'm sure Commodore isn't one to be bothered by such compunctions.

OooOOOoo a swordsman. I'm excited. I'm a fan of Charriu's swordsman changes and I'm sad they don't get more use.

They seem very strong units pre-catapults to me, but heavily benefit from barracks (expensive early) to give them a 20% modifier on their effectiveness.
However, I already built several barracks (for Crossbows to be able to take shock), so I'm now able to make CR1 swordsmen.

I think the first city is easily a foregone conclusion, then I think I try and split off the capital from his horse city and go for one or the other. It's going to be slow going and I think he'll be able to whip enough archers in time. The possible wildcards are whether Nauf joins in and whether Comm has HBR.

Not sure if you are serious or not but breaking fish for fish deals from 50 turns ago is not something people will be upset about. But for the first 10 turns they are indeed sacred
