Well I've suggested a cut off on sign ups of Monday, but with what Bacchus has posted in the past I wouldn't want to just exclude him.

Era starts I think not everyone has posted their opinion on. If someone wants to take the time to PM the sign ups regarding the choice few that still need to be made that would be ideal.

Just incase ive forgotten to vote.. I strongly prefer ancient era, as i havent played ANY classical era start before.

I'm doing some desultory pre-game scouting, but that's a challenge going on but a single post.  crazyeye

(Reasonable if you want to walk in as a complete unknown, but I'd like assurance everyone here is taking this seriously.)

beardbeard has the heart of a warrior.

I actually changed Classical era starts slightly in few mod iterations ago (but this reminds me, I actually need to revert the later era starts tech cost modifier), but it is actually much closer to an ancient era game than most people realize.

You start with 2 settlers, 1 worker, 1 scout (or tracker if Native America), and 1 archer (or your archer replacement if Babylon/Mali). You also start with 10 gold, and with every ancient era tech. All 6 start techs, Sailing, Pottery, Animal Husbandry, Archery, Masonry, Bronze Working and Writing. You also have Meditation, Polytheism, Priesthood and Monotheism. This means that 3 players at random get a free religion. The opening tech choices are therefore Aesthetics, Maths, Alphabet, Horseback Riding, Code of Laws, Monarchy, Theology, Metal Casting and Iron Working. There are no cost reductions in any area of the game (units, tech buildings, culture levels, everything is the same as an ancient era game).

Barbarian animals do not spawn. There are also certain wonders that that can only be built on Ancient era starts: Moai Statues, Stonehenge, Great Wall, Oracle, Statue of Zeus(?! that needs a new mod version. That's a hold over from the base BtS).

With that in mind the current running total is:

Era: Classical: 1: Commodore,
Ancient: 1: superdeath

Events: On: 3: Commodore, superdeath, Krill
Off: 0:

AI diplo [game option]: On: 0

OK, I've sent out PMs to all current signups for this game.

I'm going to just go with a strict cut off for sign ups: 18 players (we are at 15 now) or Monday 2/9/19@1200 GMT. Then we can turf everything to TBS, who can build us a perfect map and we can get a snake pick started once the starts are known and I've put a bug fixed mod out. Yes, that does mean that people need to check the mod works, because once we get our starts or a pick order I really don't want to be messing with the mod.

I didn't realise religions get given out at random, in that case either
1. ancient or
2. classical with us getting one of the religions or
3. Classical with map balancing to make starts worse for religious civs

Would all be fine by me.

The religions are given out after a number of turns (I think seven, but don't hold me to that), there isn't a way to know who gets one (this is the case for all late era starts, however the game does not give one player multiple religions unless every player has a religion). And strictly speaking it gives one religion to each team, so if it were a 12 player game, but three teams of four players, one player per team would get a religion in a Classical era game.

So I'll put you down for ancient (you speaking for Hitru as well, or shall I just give you both half a vote?)

With the changes you made, I'll throw in a vote for Classical.

Events: On

AI diplo. This gives us what? Generic "prepare for war vs X" messages? "Lets be friends?" Can I ask what superdeath thinks of Commodore and he gets an option to pick from a list instead of it using the AI math? Can I demand 1gpt to get a 10t peace treaty without a war/peace flop (which now takes 5 turns, right?)
Whatever it is, I'm probably for it. It's gotta be better than playing code games with iron+banana+17gold on one side, and something even more confusing on the other.

Also, where are we on the BUG implementation? dotmaps, score changes on the board instead mining Civstats, etc?

True AI Diplo gives you the same trade items in MP as you may know in SP with AI. So in addition to the stuff you already know you get:
  • Declare war on X
  • Make Peace with X
  • Stop trading with X
  • Adopt (civic)
  • Convert (religion)
BUG looks good so far in SP, but I need to get it running in an MP game, for which I need Ramkhamhaengs help. BUG is not in this version.

I strongly recommend y'all convert this into a complete list, before the game starts.  Also, probably worth allowing or maybe even requiring 'I have received your message which said X', if you're going to have the additional things go through the trade window.
