RBP2 Lurker Discussion Thread - No Players!

Sunrise, I thought it best to reply to your post in the email thread in here.

I don't think putting it to a vote this time would work. We know that there is a majority dogpile on Spulla and that any vote would surely be skewed by these loyalties rather than an independent decision

At the very least, they should be voting on a new rule that would cover this situation in general (hard to think of one IMO), not on who gets to go first and second in this particular case.

Mr. Svinlesha == Sullla's doppelganger!

Had to register just for this. From reading the rules, it seems that both sides have to agree on a turn split when only two teams are involved. Right now there is no precedent (imo) for either side to claim what half of the turn they want. It has to come down to an agreement. Now, when the others join the fray, the split timer comes into play.

So funny reading those Oedipal Complex letters about killing Sullla. Poor Speaker gets no attention at all lol.

Also, Jowy's proposal is hilarious. So you declare war, try to force the 2nd half of the timer, AND then offer peace against the CoW plan...? Wat!?

How valuable is any NAP? As long as a team honors its agreements -- and I see no signs that Spullla were not planning on doing so -- the NAP is worth something.

If the other team makes the mistake of reading more into the deal than was actually promised, well.... Entire careers in sales have been built on getting people to do just that.

This is going to get interesting, at least once all the rules wrangling is worked through. Had to delay my first batch of popcorn. lol

Oh if only it would occur to Sullla to broadcast that peace offer of Jowy's to the world, it would be a propaganda coup, and could turn Jowy's allies against them!

Actually, it's this that is hilarious:
Sullla Wrote:Time to send him a "stalling" message; we just need him to hold off on doing anything for about 5 turns.

I think the COW is playing right into Spullla's hands...lol jive

And m4gill4, Jowy posted the peace offering in the Email thread, so everyone saw it. It wasn't a serious proposal (2 cities for 5t of peace and the right to go second in the turn order).

The simplest rule would be: Attacker goes first (after all, they can then use the promotions) and Defender goes Second.

End of. If you are the attacker and feel your attack isn't going to work - bring more troops.

The worst rules are ambiguous rules that try and be "Fair", the best rules are unfair but WORK!

Keep it simple.

seeing as it has been coined on numerous occasions "That's my 2 cents!" lol
