RBP4 [SPOILERS] - Shaka of Zulu (sunrise089, regoarrarr, and friends)

I had been walking the 2 disputed workers over to WK's new city. He had sent a galley over to collect them but the galley sailed too far. And then as I mentioned earlier, he had Adlain auto-raze the city anyways, so I had asked him what he wanted me to do with the workers.

His reply

Quote:Just delete the workers, I'll be eliminated before I can use them.

I''ll admit the Zion miscommunication was partially my fault. My interest in this game had fallen a lot quicker than I had originally anticipated, and by the time I has settled Zion I just wanted to get this game over with and not bother playing OCC. The decision to let you keep the city changed once I realized that you had broken the confidentiality part of my treaty by trying to get plako to concede something to you for not hiding my settler in your backyard. Also you told plako 'not to worry' since you would take Zion as soon as I had grown to size 2 which, while technically not breaking the agreement since I forgot to mention an exact time to eliminate me from before July, certainly didn't make me happy. I didn't mind too much that you trying to capture or raze my cities because I would've lost them soon enough to plako anyway, but those two things together made me ask Adlain to raze Zion.

Now I hope you can prove me wrong on both counts and this was all just a huge misunderstanding on my part when I read your thread, but how do you expect me to react when you play both sides like that?

Quote:Eh - it's a tough line for us to walk. On the one hand, I wanted to help you out and I truly thought that your idea of hiding a city way up in my back lines was one of the most hilarious ideas I'd ever seen. On the other hand, I can't afford to honk off plako too much as he's much bigger than us and was known to have a 40+ unit stack wandering around near us.

I did tell plako I was going to take your city when it reached size 2, but I was planning on coordinating that with you. In any case, it's all water under the bridge now, and I recognize that you don't have much incentive to believe anything I say now since I could just say whatever... Unfortunately our thread is not likely to give much help either since per your request, I did not post most of our conversations.

In any case, it's all past now - I lost the city, and can't keep the workers and you chopped a bunch of forests if / when I DO resettle it so it's kind of a lose-lose-lose situation for me ;-) If you're still mad, I know a game where you can take it out on me :-D

I deleted the 2 workers this evening (leaving us with 16)

Looking at your military and comparing the number of units with the number of cities (~20 right?) you do seem a wee bit like a paper tiger. Is that something your planning to rectify in the coming turns or are you confident in your diplomacy, NAP's etc?
Speaking of, when do your various NAP's end?

If this question comes off as dumb, keep in mind that I have only ever played SP where a "NAP" is not worth the paper on which it is written.

The good news is that it doesn't seem to make a lot of sense for anyone to attack us. We do have NAPs with plako till T145 (about 2-3 turns), Parkin till T170 I believe and Moogle till T180. Adlain is pretty far away and has low power.

The other thing to mention is although we don't have much of an army, we are I think #4 in soldiers. So to the untrained eye, we're not that great of a target

That's a very good point. The only reason I asked was because your soldier to city ratio looked like about 1:1 and with quite a large percentage of that being warriors. I'm guessing that even The General himself would be hard pressed to defend with warriors smile

Being #4 however is a good deterrent to any kind of opportunistic shenannigans as you mention. How does your power graph compare to the rest of the world? #4th is only good if your #3rd ranked neighbour doesn't have double your power.

Anyway, keep posting! I'm learning a lot by reading these reports and its both great fun as well as hugely counterproductive to me doing any work, which is always a good thing :D

I won't be shocked at all if Plako attacks us, but I think we won't just roll over. On a big map, and with a 1mover stack, it's hard to snowball too much even with catapults in a 1v1 war. We'd loose cities for sure though if Plako moved his stack in, it just might not be worth it to him.

Agreed on all counts. I don't think it's worth it to him - not when he's in a competition with (and on some counts losing to) Lord Parkin
