[Spoilers - Flauros (sunrise089 and darrelljs)]

Okay, very long chat with sunrise089 on essentially two topics. I will summarize:

Religion
I don't think Amelia could beat us to Chalid, and I'm not sure she wants him anyway. I am quite sure we cannot beat Ilios to Chalid. Getting RoK is great for the gold, but I suspect it is a stopover religion. The silver lining is that Feudalism and Honor both need Trade, so we can defer the decision. Chalid in fact requires Religious Law, which is the penultimate tech on the divine tree. We will continue with Sanitation/Festivals before heading that way, and fall back to Ritualists for splash damage. I have no problem with StW devil.

Ilios
If we can secure NAPs with Amelia and pull uberfish in, sunrise089 believes we could accomplish something. The goal would be to commit to a declaration on turn X with each team promising a certain composition of troops. Serdoa would need Cartography (and perhaps Pact of the Nilhorn) to make this work. Time for some diplo smile.

And, final note of the day:

Quote:Amelia,

At the least would you be willing to give us a long term NAP, so that we are free to do something?

Darrell,

Turn played, as instructed in your excellent overview. Nothing really to report, except in the turn log I see we got the Harpy event (or it says we did). Did we really get the event? Did you auto-choose to turn down the GArtist?

Oh, I didn't post the shot for that. Yeah, it was +5 unhappy in Prespur, really a no brainer to turn it down. E-mail from Serdoa:

Quote:You can see my believes for our world in the attached screenie (yeah, I am a god with paint). If that is correct, the elves are probably too far to really do anything in a realistic timeframe. I was informed that Ilios is trying to defend the dwarves (or at least he told so to the Doviello which do fight the Luchuirp currently - yeah, all that information for free wink). So his east probably should be lightly defended. Therefore I would rather try to get our forces together now then to wait for 10+ turns till Hunters can reach us. Of course, we have to see how this war is going, but so far the Doviello are winning. You will have noticed that they used Wild Hunt and killed Barnaxus. They also took a city - and I don't think that they Luchuirp do have that many wink

So, yeah, let me know what sunrise thinks. If we could have your Axemen and say 5 bloodpets going plus my 5 warrios + 1 Freak (with bronze weapons) we would have 12 units. I don't think he will have more - we will of course lose some but I think that would be worth it - they are dead capital right now anyway wink Btw: From Nubia you would need 7 turns to reach my preferred staging tile. So I think we could probably not start before turn 83 - hitting his city turn 86 or 87. Not great, but better then turn 100+ till Hunters reach us because then the Doviello probably are no threat to him any longer.

And Amelia:

Sure, no problem about that. How about till turn 100 for now?

I'm buried this weekend so I probably will be hit and miss online.

Any thoughts on how we respond to these?

I volunteered to draft a treat for CoW III (why not give it an auspicious name). I have layers of permission I need to send it out, starting with sunrise089. Qui tacet consentire videtur.

Mail to the entire group of 5:

Quote:All recipients of this email have guaranteed confidentiality on this topic.

As everyone knows by now, Malakim has become the proverbial tall poppy. They have sizeable leads in GNP, crop yield and production over their nearest competition, and will soon have the Luchuirp as a virtual vassal. If we are going to prevent a runaway scenario we must work together. To minimize miscommunication, we decided to draft a formal agreement for the consideration of all parties. Firstly, a general outline of the map:

Strategically, we propose that Lanun, Calabim and Balseraph join forces and attack the Malakim from the southeast. We further propose that Ljosalfar join the Doviello push against the Luchuirp and continue into Malakim lands from the west.

Material commitment: Each side commits 200H worth of units, at least 150H of which enter Malakim lands by turn 97 with the remainder entering no later than turn 102. The composition of the force should be coordinated with the civs in your theater of operations. This might sound exaggerated, but the reality is we have to leverage our one advantage which is combined production. The Calabim are scrapping our expansion plan to deal with this immediate threat, and we expect and hope other civilizations will not allow this burden to fall solely on our shoulders.

At the conclusion of hostilities with the Malakim, a cooldown period is in effect for 15t so that armies can return to their respective borders.

Mail to Serdoa:

Quote:Okay, I intentionally left off any mention of balancing the fruits of victory, if any. I think to avoid conflict with you going forward we simply have to plan to work together on the Lanun after the Malakim threat is removed. We’re okay with a gentleman’s agreement at this point, we can negotiate details as we get the coalition rolling.

Oh, and to those who think my e-mail to Serdoa is Krillivellian, I would point out that we already asked Lanun to help and they said no. Despite having the most to lose, and gain, from the conflict.

Okay, sent a slightly modified version out based on discussions with Serdoa. Also sent this to Amelia (and Bob):

Quote:Amelia,

First, thanks for the confidentiality agreement and the NAP extension offer. I just sent a draft treaty out that I've been working on with some of the other teams. I know you've expressed reluctance to join in before and I respect your right to make the decision, but I included you in the hope you might change your mind :-). It is surely worth considering given how juicy the Malakim land appears to be. Participation would guarantee everyone's acknowledgment that you have a right to a fair share of that land. I doubt the other teams will feel so inclined if you sit on the sidelines.

On our part we are delaying a Settler, two Workers, and two Public Baths to participate, and we don't stand to realize territorial gains at all! We still decided to participate because we wanted to do our fair share (for the diplomatic benefits if nothing else). Anyway, again its your decision but we all hope you will reconsider.

Darrell

P.S. I have copied Bob as well as I don't know what the status of your internet connection is.

Amelia Wrote:I'm actually interested, but i need to look at the map to see where the Malakim are, and where i am.

Also, i'm not allowed to talk to Serdoa lol, i have not met the Balseraphs

Darrell Wrote:So here is the summary so far. Mist has said he is in. Serdoa has said he is in. Uberfish has said he is in IF everyone else is in. Uberfish can see both your city and the Malakim ROK holy city. He says the Malakim are due north of you. For some reason the link pasted in with errors. Here is a fixed link:

You know...if she does join (and with Uberfish saying he only will if she does, which means we want her to join) we can't very well turn around and gang up on her. That would be wrong, even for vampires.
