zzz, turns not flying by like yesterday, probably won't see it until tomorrow
Not much going on, got a warrior south of capital, sees coast (plus an ice block blocking off any potential trade) and some clams or crabs + a serpent on it.
Mysticism finished EOT, will go Agriculture next. Not sure if I should revolt ot Godking immediately or not, if I do I'd run 1-2 turns of 100% gold so I'd have random event money. Hmm guess I will revolt then.
Will send another warrior out west, hopefully he won't die but there's a lot of barbs around

Ok time for another screenshot
Most notably Hippus/Sciz border sighted. Also a nice scorpion + lion pairing. A warrior is attempting to scout the fog between us, would be surprised if he uncovers most of it considering the wildlife.
Switched to GodKing this turn, probably should've done so last turn but doesn't matter too much. A worker is due in 8 turns, 1 turn after Agriculture completes. The previous warrior build can be finished in 2 turns in case something nasty appears out of the fog and makes a beeline for Geneva

Scorp + Lion next to scout both moved towards me so the scout cannot move towards the Hippus this turn. Sent him north to check out the dungeon instead.
The warrior whose life I feared would be short is likely going to perish next turn, he moved away from a Polar Bear right into the clutches of a Griffon + Bear.
Since I want Agriculture ASAP now, I am going to hold off on a turn at 100% gold until its researched.

Scout explored dungeon, fought goblin, got poisoned, cleared lair. Several turns to heal up now.
The main question now is when do I want to build my first settler and how much protection will he need? It looked like one HG chased after the Kuriotate scout but I think 2 warriors is the absolute minimum needed.
As for further scouting.... what further scouting? Sinking hammers into warriors + scouts for anything other than city defence almost seems suicidal now with all the beasties around. This is a major problem that doesn't look like being addressed soon, I guess exploration > hunting is higher priority now and I'll delay the drama line of techs for better short term knowledge + power

Appreciate the atypical regular updates, Dantski.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

Brace yourselves.
Are you holding onto something?
Hold tighter
Tighter still.
Might want to remove your false teeth first.
And possibly any jewellery.
I mean I can't be responsible for any accidents.
Ready?
I doubt it.
But here we go.
I'll give you a moment to recover.
And get a medium sized drink.
Feeling better now?

Also exchanged some messages with Selrahc, I'll just summarize for now and say that he's met everyone except for Irgy (his scout has been extremely lucky to get as far as it has with 0.0 health). He's also had a wolf rider attack his city that Jkaen released, seemed rather ironic that he blamed Jk for almost eliminating him when he popped a wolf rider himself.
Also he gave me directions to Ichabod, since Ich then moved next to me in the proceeding turn I'm guessing Selrahc gave him directions too. Nothing to report diplomatically with Ich, he only had time for a quick greeting email and that was it.
Had the warm dry summer event this turn. Strangely it turned one of my plains hills into a grassland hill, works for me!
Ending turn finished my first worker, Agriculture will be 1 more turn so the worker will have to twiddle his thumbs for a turn.
Scout will heal up over the next 2 turns so there's unlikely to be much to report, once done he should head over towards Sciz and hopefully evade the barbarians to make contact.

Agriculture in, Crafting -> Mining is my next planned destination. Umm'ed and ahh'ed over Mining vs Exploration choice. Decided on mining for the extra hammers + being able to hook gold up right away at my 2nd planned city. I'll also be looking at AH sooner rather than later as well since the food sources at city 2 are Sheep + Cow.
Definitely having problems deciding on tech priorities, Hunting is just generally awesome and will help enormously vs barbs. KotE and some spring adepts would be useful in 30-40 turns so can be put off for a while. Education is always nice but I feel like its not essential just yet, Calendar is more helpful for the techs it'll unlock than what it'll give me itself, so again not desperately needed.
With 3 warriors close to the capital, I chose to build an Elder Council for now. Not sure I'll be working a scientist early on but the extra beakers are handy. After that a warrior -> Settler build order is on the cards at present
Also sent this message to Selrahc
Quote:Hi Selrahc
As I'm sure you're aware, the Lanun + the Elohim are the 2 closest civs to the Hippus. Given my worldspell, it seems likely that you will be his target. Added to the fact that you wandered a little before settling, I just wanted to make sure you were fully alert to the possiblilty of a Hippus attack in the future and if you haven't already, form some kind of plan for dealing with it.

If I wasn't trying to play a goody goody, I'd be happy enough for the Hippus to wipe the extremely fast teching + raiders Lanun out. However I'd rather that didn't happen. Anyway I hope Selrahc is paying attention to Sci'z power graph in the future.

Moved scout SW towards Sciz, used both moves since I'd have to go into the forest or desert eventually and got lucky with no barbarians nearby. Also spotted a Hippus warrior so sent this along
Quote:Hey hey Sciz!
Finally made contact this turn (my scout sees your warrior).
I'm actually a bit out of ideas for what to discuss. From what I've seen and heard, the arid climate and inhospitable land seems to be the norm for all players, so I'm assuming you're having fun with that too.
Anyway if you have anything you want to chat about feel free to give me a call.

Not sure how to deal with Sciz. He's clearly going to be the baddie early on before he falls behind economically. Roleplaying points to not working closely with him either so I think I'm going to keep my distance for now and not exchange too much info with him.
Anyway with the Hippus contacted that just leaves Jkaen to go. Here's the list of who's met who
Khazad - 5? - He's met everyone that I have and started next to Jkaen
Elohim - 4 - Lanun, Hippus, Kuriotates, Khazad
Lanun - 4 - Elohim, Hippus, Amurites, Khazad
Hippus - 3/4 - Elohim, Hippus, Khazad, maybe Amurites
Kuriotates - 3? - Elohim, Khazad and probably Amurites
Amurites - 1+? - Lanun (confirmed), Khazad + Kuriotates (probable)
Oh and while I remember it, there are ZERO unique features this game, yep mapmakers hate my guts (except the pbem4 one).

Elder Council built, working on 2 warriors before size 4 then a settler
West scout going past Sci'z northern border and will try to meet up with Jkaen. East warrior trying to get a little more map info about my potential 3rd city spot.
Crafting in 6 turns
Demographics look bad, worst GNP even with creative boost, not sure how thats the case. Maybe its just the prerequisite teching boost others may be getting? Food also looks bad, guess others went size 1 worker or something. Production is solid.
Had to confirm to Sciz I was his eastern neighbour, would rather have left him guessing a while longer but its not like he's an immediate threat.
Future plans? What future plans?
