[Spoilers - Flauros (sunrise089 and darrelljs)]

I am using 4 to bring Morr'ta'nar out of resistance when I build my wee beasties. I am using 7 to pop borders of my newly founded cities to avoid monuments. I am cash rushing Governor's Manors however.

Hmm...move to forest t173, road t174. He can indeed finish that road before I can attack. I think I'll have to think, before playing this turn. Ideally I block him in my SW and attack him in his N.

Okay, first let's talk defense. Red lines are roads. Numbers in yellow show range on roads, and numbers in pink show range across the countryside

I have in Morr'ta'nar 24 Vampires. I'll build 2 Ritualists over the next two turns, and trickle in a few more Vampires I'm sure. Next turn, I will move first to the pink #1, summon Skeletons, then move east to the tile two south of Morr'ta'nar. The Skeletons will be vulnerable to Tsunami, but who cares? They will move onto the forest tile with the 11. Amelia's SoD has a range of 9 on roads, so he can't block that tile without moving in my direction (and why would he, HAs don't get defensive bonuses). The fear is he is able to get onto my road network with some number of HAs. To prevent this I need a solid two shots at his SoD. I can probably kill it in two turns. My Spectres are 8 vs. 6 and my Vampires are 7 vs. 6. The smart play IMO is to road the forest south of #11 (which I don't think he has the Worker turns for), move up to #10, and pause. Now I am in a bit of a pickle. The forests block me attacking with Spectres. The Nightmare at Santaron is roaded, so he could move E-E-SE to get on my road network there. A few HAs to kill the city and all of the sudden he's got 1 1/3 movement left and a lot of damage potential. I can't block both forests, after all. As it stands, I will put fresh spectre summons on that tile every turn. I will likely sacrfice one Vampire to pillage the forest road, and then perhaps machine gun Ring of Fire to burn them down [Image: flamingdevil.gif]. Now, offense:

I have 43 Vampires and 3 Ritualists on this front. I plan on staging from the tile SE of Horus. I really don't understand the lack of roads, he's the one with Raiders not me. I'm not complaining though [Image: nope.gif]. So same key as before with the addtion of grey lines to show Spectre range. This is a VERY interesting situation. I can in theory move in and take Bracada Desert on turn 175. The problem is I have to move all the way to the pink #2 to let my Spectres reach the city. Since he has Engineering, he can attack me on that tile. Thankfully he doesn't have a great way to deal collatoral (assuming I understand Hastur's Razor), but why risk it? I think the better play is to move to the pink #1 on t175. One of the approach tiles is desert, so I simply block pink #2 with Spectres and I'm safe. Now, he's got a lot of pressure. From pink #1, I can reach his stack. 45 Spectres will put a world of hurt on him, I don't believe he can risk taking it on the chin like that even though his counter attack could be painful. If he draws back, so much the better. I can move to the pink #3, summon many Spectres, caste Haste, and drop back to the pink #2. The Spectres can then raze all the roads with a #4 (and even the road west of Bracadia Desert if I send a few Vampires in that direction. This move can be repeated as needed. Eventually he either has to strike out, or push against Mor'ta'narr. Hopefully I didn't miss any angle [Image: scared.gif].

P.S. Does anyone have a list of effects from Wonder?

Well, I took the bait:

Tasty Saverous was in there...he munched on quite a few Spectres but eventually died. Perhaps foolishly, I put my remaining 28 Spectres inside Bracadia Desert, rather than splitting them between the two pink #3s. As long as Hemah doesn't get Wonder (its hard to tell if he's got a pending promotion) and luck into Crush, I think I am fine. Maelstrom is not the greatest spell, and I have a lot of units sitting there. He'll kill some, but not enough to matter I hope rolleye. I moved my Hunter late and missed the chance of getting a "Mistform":

Oh, and just to be mean:

Live Update: He's attacking! Shoudl be interesting. Apparently 4/5 of his first units withdrew, and the next won at 1.8% frown. I have to go to work, hopefully I'll get the save back during lunch so I can survey the carnage.

Perhaps I should have left my Spectres defending my main stack.
