Just to give a comparison between the cost of "Pre-Paper" techs and "Post-Paper" techs...I managed to do a little MM to stop building research in a few cities, but on the whole had to keep most cities on research. Not a complete loss, whilst I could easily have teched to Lib first if I had started earlier, I've let Yuri dedicate himself to completing some techs that while useful, even necessary IMO, he hasn't gotten Nationalism and my 5 turn Taj build isn't going to be threatened.

Aha, that explains it. Plenty others' MFG not too shabby either. Auckland for example. But the Golden Age explains it.

Auckland is benefiting from Bureau, but yeah, there are some decent cities on that list.

Does it seem like there's going to be a lot of military action in the forseeable future, or is everyone in Builder mode now?
Any idea who's benefitting the most from your trade routes?

It's a hard question to answer fairly IMO. I don't have a route to attack Yuri, nor really Dazed, and vice versa, so the only way I'm going to get involved in a war is if I attack mh or TT, and both of them really require cuirs, TT would require Astro. I could get all of that tech by the end of the Taj GA easily, and probably will, but whether I go to war after that depends on how TT and Dazeds war is going, and how well Yuri is teching. I don't envision Yuri or mh going to war any time soon, and I don't have a clue what is happening over between Dazed and TT.

Nah, tech trading is on, and no one is going to want to trade with me. It's timing the war that I need to focus on.

Hmm, thought I updated this. Well, mh stole Taj (he has a knack for pissing me off somehow) so I changed my tech plan. I researched Guilds>Banking>Economics, and then started to build research and Wealth so I could get Constitution in 2 turns, and revolt on the last turn of the GA to Representation/Environmentalism/Caste System/Free Trade/Organised Religion. I popped a GP a few turns ago and built the Jewish shrine, as Yuri has done me the favour of spreading it to all of his cities and I'm going to spread it to all of my cities now for a shrine that is worth at least 30 base gpt, spo through multipliers up to 90, 100 gpt. That means I don't have to build WS in the capital, I can build OU and whatever else makes sense. I also got the GM from Economics, and just popped a lowish odds GE from my NE city. I've offered Nationalism to Dazed for 400g, though I expect him to turn it down.

Options now are get Democracy for SoL, use the GE to rush if required. Get DR for Sankore and some extra gold, or try to kill people. Decision decisions...
