Darrell: actually I have been utterly abandoned
novice: I just saw him posting in your thread
Darrell: wow :O

Dave built Sistine last turn, and asked me how long until my spaceship lands [Image: smilie_think.gif].

2850 bpt with +25 gpt. Fusion in 5 turns. Apollo in 9ish turns. TGD in 9ish turns.

T-Hawk you sure its not a good idea to build a second Engine in a mid hammer city, considering it will be among the first parts I can build?

I also need to consider when to trigger the GA. I think it makes sense to do it as soon as possible, as I'll get commerce+hammers. Once the cottages are paved, its just hammers.

It could work out, if you have enough good hammer cities that a second Engine won't delay any other parts.

The best time for a spaceship Golden Age is when the last turn will expire just as you complete the last part. You want to skew a GA towards part building rather than research, because the GA is a bigger percentage boost for hammers than for commerce. A tile producing 1-3 hammers gets a big relative boost from the GA hammer; a town producing 7 commerce gets a much smaller boost towards research.

You say you get both commerce and hammers if you go GA sooner... but the hammers are not the limiting factor until research is complete. Make sure you're in GA for the entire time between the last tech and the last part. (If you can really 1-turn the last part, I'm not sure where the GA calculus winds up. ASAP might be best but it's probably no more than a 1 turn difference any way you do it.)

Hmm...that actually makes perfect sense.

We are in a good ol' fashioned Fusion race! Nospace got Computers last turn before I did! I have to suspect he burnt one or more of his stored GS's on it. Further, any additional GSs he has will bulb Fiber Optics, so I expect him to get that next turn. Further, he has avoided Satellites so Fission is actually on the list ahead of Laser. Basically he has made the wise decision to burn through his GSs in a race for the Fusion GE. It is possible he will rush TGD, it is probable the plan is for an additional Golden Age.

I will get Fiber Optics next turn with reasonable overflow (currently at 4915/7185) but I get an OR bonus of 20%. I am pulling 2950 bpt, so that will allow a rollover of about 1050. My only advantage is that I have Fission almost entirely teched (4436/5269). I will roll over (1050 + 2950 + 4426) - 5269 = 3157 beakers. Fusion is 7664 beakers so I will be 4507 beakers short. Alas, Robotics is ahead of Fusion on the GE bulb chart or that second GE I have would be enough to get Fusion down to 1t (with some other modifications). Of course I get the tie due to going first in the turn order, but nospace has a one turn lead on me. I basically need Fiber Optics + Fission + Fusion to be 5 turns for him if I want to win the race.

With the Kremlin obsolete, I will be faced with a very interesting choice should it look like he will win nod.

What's the choice?

Well I don't think I can afford to lose TGD at this point. So I'll either have to waste a GE or gamble they aren't going to out rush me for it. I am sure they have a city pulling more hammers than Brazil working on it, but without a GE I don't think they can beat me. I think I will get another GS from my NE city after the GA that will be born next turn, so I can still have a Golden Age. It would have been nice to use that GS to bulb something though.

I have 2 GEs, a GSpy, and a GM rigtht now, and my next Golden Age requires 4 Great Persons.

I have to say this game is now quite exciting. I was bored out of my skull with it earlier, but now I'm glad we decided to play it out smile.
