Granary (almost) halves the food cost of growing. This is equivalent to doubling your food surplus every turn.
Ah yes, I misread food surplus as the half-full element of your food bar.
And on the sixth day, god created Manchester.

And of course best of both worlds would have been chopping the Granary. I just don't have enough discpline to plan my micro management far enough. Workers seem to be building mainly useless roads .

Yeah, if you hadn't roaded the corn and started the cottage the granary would be chopped by now.

I can only build Great Wall from wonder department.
Just checked the save. Our break even is ~40bpt at ~25%. That includes 7 beakers from settled Great Scientist. I've also 4 libraries so if nescessary I could also take citizens out of some hills and cottages and get 20 beakers more.
However this will change quite a bit within next 3T. I'll settle 2 new cities and hopefully get Currency. My cities are big so I've also option to whip markets in my best commerce cities. Plinho and Felix Leca are generating ~30 commerce that in 20% slider would convert to ~6 gold/turn. That I think is well worth it.

Some diplo with Serdoa:
Serdoa:
Quote:we haven't talked in a while regarding this game. Obviously because we both are in builder-mode and simply try to get our economy rolling. Nonetheless I wanted to say "Hello" and see if there is anything I could help you with. As you probably have seen I've got a GE as my second GP, so I obviously can't trade you a GProphet for your shrine I am sorry.
Us:
Quote:Nothing much going on. I'm trying still to recover from the war. You seem to be doing fine with so many wonders and economy rolling with Representation. It makes me wonder what WK was up to with his leader choice.
I'm a bit annoyed by your city positioning after you complained about my hypothetical spot near the deers. After that you decided to plant to minimum distance from my existing city stealing flood plains from it.
Serdoa:
Quote:I am wondering what WK is doing as well. Tbh I expected fail-gold at least for ToA but obviously he is not trying for any wonder at all. Not sure what good it is to take an Ind-leader then though. Well, anyway, I am obviously happy with that.
As for my city: I am sorry that it annoyed you, but I did not expect you to have a city on the silver there (it seems Rome, despite being an "ally" decided to just settle up on me, even some pretty far cities for them, then to settle the good land right next door, despite crying about not having a metal-happy-resource) and when I saw it, I realized that I could not settle my city differently without taking parts of the deer-spot we had agreed on. And I as intend to honor that deal, I had decided to not do that.
No I'm not convinced that he really needed to settle there .

Quote:It seems we're probably planning a city to be planted in the same neighbourhood near the pigs west from you. I see you've 2 workers there. I hope we can find a border feasible to both of us there. You're probably planning to settle 1N from my mark w, would it be alright to you to settle so that I could plant a city on the spot c? 1 possible alternative is w.
The scrresnhot:
WK:
Quote:Actually, I was planning to settle 2N of w. Moving the city to w is possible, but there are a couple of problems with that. 1) This city will be my only hope of acquiring a source of whales, as my city placement in the S means I am unable to claim the other one. 2) Moving south would require negotiation with Serdoa, who's culture has already taken up some of the BFC of w and may not like me settling closer to him.
Basically I am open to the possibility of moving, but I will require something in exchange to make up for the downsides. I do want to make a border that is feasible for both of us, but since land is at a premium I can't afford to move my city spots for neighbors without appropriate compensation.
Us:
Quote:Compensation sounds reasonable, if you can settle w. What do you think would be alright to you? Would worker + limited time gift of spices e.g. 15T after I get them improved make it?
I could offer also my Whales, but Optics is very low priority in this map. I suspect I won't get it before I want Physics and that is really too long time to consider as feasible compensation.
WK:
Quote:I have managed to get rights to settle w from Serdoa without any problems. Therefore I don't see the need for compensation as both downsides of moving have managed to fix themselves. Just thought you should know so you can plan your border appropriately.
Us:
Quote:So that I don't make mistake here. Are you saying that I could settle c? That would be excellent news, but somehow I've feeling I might have misunderstood ;-). So please clarify this.
WK:
Quote:I guess it is possible for you to now settle c. However, I will be building cultural buildings in w as I need to fight of Serdoa's culture (I think his capital's culture has reached the BFC, fighting 4 wonders won't be easy) plus we will have quite a bit of overlap.
I'll leave it to you to decide. If I have cultural control over most of my BFC then I probably won't mind you settling c. If you want to have work of the shared tiles than I suggest you don't settle there, as you probably won't be able to.
Us:
Quote:Alright. I think I could keep the 1st ring, but on the other hand it would be a bit annoying to both of us. I'll settle 2N from c a nit later, but move my latest settler up north to settle near Wheat.

Did you get more gold back from mackoti? Not sure if we can finish Currency next turn with the new cities taking more maintenance.

I asked for 60 gold. Hopefully he accepts. After that he owes just 10 gold.

Settling both cities felt too expensive so I settled only the contested area.
