Yes, since you can't sell buildings in Civ4. Nothing you can do about this.

Well, that raises the question of the Forbidden Palace. If you capture enough cities that have Court Houses, then the FP comes an optional build. Are you allowed to build it or is building the Forbidden Palace forbidden?
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

In the event that this comes up, no, you are not allowed to build the Forbidden Palace. Hopefully this won't be an issue in any games.

Are you allowed to build the Versailles then? It's unlocked by divine right, but has nothing to do with religion.

Game complete. A handy filler as Epic 11 didn't look so enjoyable for my low-spec PC.

Well, if I'd managed to capture enough courthouses to build the Forbidden Palace, it would be too late forbid me to build it anyway. wink I actually had thought that it was a neat game balancing feature to allow the player to capture courthouses to build the Forbidden Palace. If one's economy was poor and one was slow at conquering the AIs, they would be more likely to have had a chance to build courthouses, thus a greater chance of capturing enough to build the forbidden Palace. If they stomped on the AIs fairly quickly, then there wouldn't be so many courthouses and they have a harder time with upkeep costs. This is such an elegant game balancer that it seems a shame to outlaw it.

If I had thought about it when writing the rules, I probably would have disabled Versailles. But since I didn't, I think it has to remain fair game.

The Forbidden Palace is a bit different; if you are permanently barred from building courthouses, it should be obvious that the Forbidden Palace (which requires courthouses) should also be off limits. Right? smile

Writing clear rules is not as easy as it seems! lol
