[spoilers] Pindicator and Regoarrarr - Bismark of Ethiopia

If we do convert the capital, we want to take back the clam tile there so it will grow in 1. With +1 happy from the religion and +1 from whip anger expiring next turn, we can grow it one other size (that assumes we convert to Christianity this turn or next)

Plus side - our power, which has dropped to 5th place @ 102K (leader has 135K), will be upped by 2 Barracks, 2 axemen and 1 archer next turn (total of 21K), plus an already finished chariot and axeman next turn.

But the real question is, how would Mani do his business? Was it all in vain??!?!!?!?!?1111oneoneone

Of course not. The RNG hates us, remember? It was founded in Celebrity Jeopardy, which at least is probably 2nd place in the "good places" list.

lol great post, even if the result was (predictably) not the dice roll we wanted to end up with. It was a fun one to come back home and see. CJ could end up being a decent holy city: with decent production we can have it focus on building markets and running merchants; just as soon as we get to Currency

Yeah, i do have a bit of an itch against the dry triple whip, but its not like that is going to lose us the game...

Yeah that was the only really smoke move. Though technically it was only a dry double whip + single barracks whip. All to make sure that CJ didn't become the holy city lol

It was my intention like I said to put 4/35 in the axe last turn - not sure what happened

I think Moai + Wall Street is pretty good personally. You don't often pair Moai with anything (sometimes with HE, but often it's overkill), and those coast tiles add up to a lot more commerce than you think. Plus WS costs a crapton and would be hard to build without a GE in most places (unless the mod lowered its cost lol).

So when do we revolt? We have Christianity and OR to revolt to. I think I remember us saying that we were going to delay Monarchy so we're not going to have anything else to revolt to any time soon

Sooner is probably better than later for revolting, although two consecutive turns will be a tough pill to swallow. But once we have both OR and Christianity in place we can start spreading around the additional +1 smile to all of our cities.

Don't suppose we're lucky enough that whip anger wears away while you're in anarchy? I seriously doubt it, but that would be a nice silver lining.

Edit: But do let those military builds finish first, like you suggested.

According to Mackoti, Wall Street (and hence a shrine) fits best in your GP farm, since you'll be running a high science slider late game. Thus WS is not very efficient in a commerce city, but perfect for a city running lots of merchants. At least if Caste System will be your late game civic of choice.
I have to run.

Yeah, I agree with this reasoning. At least, that it's best in a city where you run a lot of gold producers independent of the slider, because ideally you want all your commerce going into research. If you get a good shrine, that can trump running a lot of merchants, but it depends on your set-up. Unfortunately Celebrity Jeopardy isn't the most ideal city to run merchants in, but late game we can possible farm all it's surrounding tiles and get good mileage out of the shrine + however many merchants it can put together.

So while I was out mowing the lawn, I started thinking about this game. We are obviously at a disadvantage here, given our setback with Commo-san. Our chances of winning were never THAT spectacular, but obviously they are diminished at this point in the game.

So I was thinking of recent games here that have showed someone coming back from a hole. I can't mention many of them since they are ongoing games lol but I think what we need to do are play to our strengths. I think that's why I was never too excited about your (cockamamie lol) plan to run lots of Caste Merchants to bulb Metal Casting or Currency. We're not SPI to easily swap in and out of civics, and we're not PHI either (and have already used our 100 GPP).

So what are our assets?

In-game:
* We're EXP - no cheap granaries, but we do have bonuses on workers and WBs, as well as cheap grocers
* We're IND - so that means cheap forges as well as of course cheap wonders
* We have a religion, and a monopoly on Theology.
* Because of those 2 factors, we are in pretty good shape to land the AP. Since everyone knows that we have had Theology for a long time, and we're IND, people will likely not prioritize it. So the monk economy could make sense
* We have more cities than anyone we've met except Commodore (tied with us) and Krill (2 ahead of us frown ),
* We're a solid 3rd in land area and have pretty good land (lots of rivers and cottageable land)

Oh and this
[Image: Civ4ScreenShot0152.JPG]

So much for needing to make that decision lol thumbsup

Meta-game:
* I would put us as 2nd place in terms of overall Civ skill. Definitely behind Krill, but I feel okay saying we are (slightly) ahead of the other 2nd-tier folks like Cyneheard, Ceiliazul or Dazed / Scooter.
* We have an aggressive (and AGG) neighbor who already is (almost) in last place and who is probably even behind us!
* With tech trading on, people that are behind have a chance to catch up

Now if only we had a holocaust cloak.... lol

So my grand plan while riding around cutting the grass was to tech Paper soonish (it's only 200b more than MC), and then sell that to folks for money to finance our teching. But.... while I knew that RB Mod meant you couldn't trade techs pre-Paper, I double checked just now and you can't trade Paper either frown

But I do think that we do need to concentrate on our strengths. Paper does also of course open up UoS which would be another good wonder to have if we're going monk-style.

But of course everything that we want to do requires our economy to turn around...

I revolted to Christianity and ended turn. We were last to play, so I was able to check whether or not whip anger goes down in revolt turns

It does!! thumbsup
