I'd have a go at something like that.
EDIT: Is Planetfall operative? That sounds quite interesting.

What I would like its a 8-10 people pitbos, AI diplomacy, all leaders alowed,with
Tech trading on but you can receive just 2 techs for an era.
If diplomacy screen apears and an exchange its proposed and you dont want, type back in the screen: No deal without other coments.
About double moves i think all here can be fair play and avoid those, but we can have a rull set like in PB4.

I'd like to play some non-ancient start duels after the duel league is finished
Mackoti's idea also sounds interesting

I'd be interested as well, so long as I can pawn off my current PBEM35 game to someone else.
Pitbosses are way faster, and they let you play on Normal speed, which I've been getting way too familiar with.

This sounds like it could be entertaining. Also stupid and unbalanced.
But maybe play it with few players on a small map and quick speed.

For a similar idea, check out pbem10. Lots of protective leaders and a couple sea-based civs which ironically ended up being excellent as it was a water map.

This sounds intriguing. Limiting it to 2 techs per era seems like it might make some no-talking tech trading palatable. I would play this.

The History of the Three Kingdoms is a mod set in the Warring States period of China, and actually had people attempt to balance it (albeit with the single-player scenarios in mind). It features a really awesome system of heroes, where each hero has particular stats that allow him to lead a certain number of units (giving them some combat buffs). I would highly recommend playing scenarios and not random map games, though.
Played in: PBEM 4 [Formerly Jowy's Peter of Egypt] | PBEM 10 [Napoleon of the Dutch] | PBEM 11 [Shaka of France] | EitB XVI [Valledia of the Amurites] | PB7 [Darius of Rome] | Diplomacy 3 [Austria-Hungary] | PBEMm/o vs AutomatedTeller

There's Caveman 2 Cosmos, which sounds utterly absurd. It adds Prehistoric era, because apparently what a game that was designed and balanced around expansion, making decisions about where to invest, bringing Civilization to the intamed wilderness; needs is ~50 uniquely modelled animals to hunt and build one-off city improvements with, and ~200 turns spent playing a 1-city 1-citizen challenge.

The idea I was tossing around was something like
* 4-5 players.
* CTON AW
* Leaders and Civs chosen by the lurkers / mapmakers. We're talkin Tokugawa of Celtia, Charlemagne of America, etc. If the mapmaker makes a mostly land map then Portugal is in play, etc.
* Players roughly equal in skill, though if there are slight variations in perceived skill, it could be balanced with the leader / civ they're assigned. I don't think we want it TOO disparate though - no newbs playing Willem of India
* All players must have a high PYFT rating. Please provide references
* Fairly harsh map - arid highlands, or great plains without all the cows, maybe? Nothing too blatant about map editing - just making things mostly fair between players
* Don't want to be RIGHT on top of each other but not a big buildfest either - we can only put SO MANY non river non FIN cottages down .
* Immortal / Deity / Toroidal Though we are trying to provide a challenge but not make it TOO unfun, so generally up to the mapmaker / lurker committee.
* Pyramids / GLH banned
