Right I see. Should also give them a head start for circumnav and potentially 4move galleys I guess..
Thread to abuse Commodore's map balancing skills

What do we know about map? (density of water etc.)
Erebus in the Balance - a FFH Modmod based around balancing and polishing FFH for streamlined competitive play.
Mansa Musa of Inca is a somewhat surprising choice, with Isabella available. Think it was for denial value? India can has few good FIN options now, PHI/ORG/IMP/CHA come closest. EXP options are mostly open, with only Pacal off the table. Isabella or Sury seem the most likely choices, but I can also see them picking IMP to chop out a horde of settlers.
I'd be somewhat surprised if they don't take Sury.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?
They don't have much choice. It's that or...Vicky? Hannibal? But they know they are potentially racing an IND civ to the Mids...and to have a good chance of getting the Mids they have to give up Oracle. Painful decision to make. And if they miss the Mids they are almost certainly out of the game, long term.

Khmer starting techs, Hunting/Mining.
India starting techs, Myst/Mining. Not much difference there, but if there isn't a city with 10+ forests AND stone nearby, I'm pretty sure that HC wins that, short of huge incompetence. Though I suppose that's part of the challenge, right?
In a vacuum, sure, you'd favor HC. But two factors also in play. Sury/India NEEDS Mids, HC/Khmer just wants them. And for pure just get a wonder micro, there's not many better than novice.
In fact, I'd more expect Parkin to go the Oracle > Colossus route and only really bang for mids if he sees stone and opportunity.
