Archer upgraded and healing 2 tiles in forest across river from Lanun. Healing and waiting for 4 barbs incoming in two waves, I hope to take advantage of that.

Hut gave gold.

Worker is out getting Corn up, I guess since we are going for a 2nd settler that getting commerce a little later won't slow our tech down but the quick 2nd city will be better in the long run. Settler is 12 turns away but I guess we will get him done in 9-10

Ahh nice, so it went down like this:
end of turn 22, one Lizardmen attacks Lanun and dies
my turn I decide to take the ~80% chance and attack and kill an enemy warrior
end of turn 23, the other two Lizardmen attack and die
my turn, promotion +1C, 94% and kill another warrior.

The stack of Barbs incoming consists of 1 Goblin (nice, poisen ftw.) and two Lizardmen.

I would say the Lanun are done for.

Barbs took the Lanun Capital, I hope this is what is indicative of this game... everyone should be taken by the barbs....

Ok, so I thought this city spot would be best.

But does the city get the river boni on this tile?

Is it worth using another tile to get the trade route bonus via river?

The tile you have marked for the city does not show 1c (compare to the hill 1S), so it does not get the river effects (fresh water for health, connected by river, etc.).

Sucks that the stupid barbs got that city.

Maybe you should try culture-flipping it and its pirate coves smile
