Your start would have been much faster if you had gone directly for AH. Compare the beakers you saved from the prereq bonus with the amount of food you lost by not pasturing the pig sooner.

I would have gotten the pigs up 2 turns earlier, yes. I didn't really think about that. The trade off is that I get a scout out faster and my tech pace is a little faster (temporarily)

Well, he's growing faster So, a mistake to give the imperialistic guy a leg up on expansion?

My opponent is doing something I don't understand - he's working the forested PH. Is he going settler first? I don't understand why he wouldn't be growing?

Planning a warrior rush, maybe? I don't get it.

He's gotta be building a settler. Not sure that's the right plan, but giving his starting techs, maybe. I'd say he's building stonehenge, but he's creative, so has no need for it.

ok - losing focus here a little.

I am at size 3 and several turns from BW and chopping. I've got 2 scouts, which is probably 2 too many, but it allows me to see what is going on. He's going for cirumnav, which he'll probably get, since he has a long head start, but what the heck. I'm going to build a worker next and then chop out a settler.

I'm improving the cow next, having burned multiple turns walking through the woods. But I think it's best to get the cows up, rather than delay by building roads. I dunno.

tatan did go worker->settler - at least that's what he says. that makes sense, given what I saw in the demos.
his scout showed up, so we have declared on each other.

ok - so, he's (not surprisingly) ahead of me. He's got two cities up and they have both expanded. He's ahead in all the categories. None of this is surprising.

I have 2 workers and I think he only has one, so that helps.

Tatan and I played a bunch of turrns.

I founded Watership Down this turn, so I'm up to the same number of cities, at least. I basically have to make my cities better, cause he expands faster and gets better cheap buildings. Thus, Watership down, on the flood plains. I'm going to get out further to protect it.




I'm thinking one more settler, then Stonehenge in my cap. The next city goes on the coast and will be my mil city. I expect to go light on military, though, and count protective saving my butt.

So, some thoughts:

That is an island in the south there, which means better trade routes when I get around to it.

GreatLighthouse might be more powerful on this map than it first looks - I see 3 coastal cities down south, plus probably one for the silver (that one looks like it would have to get food from the lakes), plus whatever is happening up north. Collossus might be really good on this map, too, with all the water. But that's a lot of hammers for wonders if you include Stonehenge and oracle (probably) to get MC. It means not getting pyramids or HG, too.
