Depends on the enemy composition.
The ult isn't channeled, so firing it right after Curse won't stop it. This is the most common "EMERGENCY BUTTON" move that I see, and a poor choice overall.
Trying to snipe the ult in-between the Toss and Curse is tough, but doable and can give time to spread or snipe the Amumu depending on how tanky he is.
Your best bet (imo) is wait until some of their team piles in and then disable them all just as Curse runs out, allowing a counter-initiation.
As always, as Sona, you should be in the backlines and hopefully outside the range of the Curse. If you were the poor sap to get bandaged, you were most likely doing it wrong or their Amumu is crazy awesome at landing bandage into the middle of your team.

Apparently you don't get a posted rank unless you are 1) Above a certain threshold (around 1200-1300 someone said) and 2) a minimum number of games (5-10).
Yes, your elo is only visible to others if you are above 1200. Otherwise it's only visible to you.
I don't know about the number of games, but it's approx 10 I think. In any case, your elo should be displayed even after only a couple of games in the post-game screen.

Some interesting drama going on on the esport lol scene.
We go back to that discussion about the pro players behaving like amateurs.

In short from what i could understand. The decision was made because both teams decided to split the prize money no matter the outcome. Which is pretty easy to understand a conflict of interests when you are in a competition. I guess none of these kids had any lesson in ethics in school.
edit: Little more info.
Curse and Dignitas were to play the MLG finals. Earlier in the day over lunch in a crowded place they sat down and decided to split the winnings not really hidding it from everyone around them. People proceed to tweet over messages warning MLG that this was going on.
The finals start with both teams deciding to play an ARAM. The next 4 games were regular ones and Curse ends up winning 3-2.
MLG then makes the decision to disqualify both teams and split the 40k prize money between 3rd,4th,5th and 6th places.

I have trouble understanding MLG's reasoning. I can't find anything in their rules that explicitly forbids splitting prize money, and I hope there is no such rule. That kind of thing happens in all kinds of games (MtG and poker come to mind as places where it is especially common.)
I could understand, perhaps, if the teams appeared to be completely uninterested, but I thought every game was entertaining and played at a high level. They certainly weren't flawless, but I don't know that I've ever watched a professional LoL series where both teams never make mistakes.
I just can't see any way that their play negatively impacted MLG or broke any of their written rules. Judging by other forums, others will probably disagree, and I'm just curious as to why.

Fallout is still occurring by the looks of things after a quick browse on Reddit, but I have to say I have very little sympathy for either team after the ridiculous ARAM.

Playing an ARAM in the finals of a major competition, with a significant viewing audience with serious money on the line made a total mockery of the tournament. You'd never do that normally so it is simply unacceptable and I fully agree with them losing the prize money and any season points.

The official word from MLG and Riot is that Curse and Dignitas were disqualified because they agreed to split the prize money and essentially fixed the finals match before it started. MLG has said that eyewitnesses overheard the two teams discussing these plans over lunch, and they didn't make much of a secret of what they were going to do. Officially it has nothing to do with their ARAM match, although that felt like an obvious tipoff that something weird was going on. The players from Curse are now claiming that there was no agreement with Dignitas beyond the decision to play an ARAM match, so who really knows at this point. I believe the word of the MLG people a lot more than I believe a known troll player like saintvicious though.
The reaction on the forums last night demonstrated the immaturity of the League of Legends player base. It's not about "having fun" or "doing something different" with an ARAM match in the finals. What the teenagers don't understand is that the prize money and the money needed to stage an entire event like MLG comes from advertisers and sponsors. Those sponsors aren't going to continue to support MLG if the event is not being played seriously, and the teams are obviously trolling around in the finals. It turns the event into a complete joke, and it makes MLG, Riot, and Esports in general look terrible. MLG and Riot had to take steps to protect themselves; they both have hundreds of thousands of dollars (if not millions of dollars) sunk into turning League of Legends into a competitive online sport. Teams fixing matches and making no effort to win represents a serious threat to their business. If Curse and Dignitas only lose their prize money from this event, they are damned lucky. MLG and Riot would both be entirely within their rights to ban every single one of them from ever playing professionally again.
I just can't get over how monumentally stupid this idea was from Curse and Dignitas. All of their players are on professional teams paid by sponsors. Those teams are beholden first and foremost to their sponsors, not to the individual players. There are 20 million people playing League out there - it's not very hard to plug in another five players on that roster. There are literally thousands of 2000+ Elo players who would die to be on one of these teams. For the players on Curse, this was even more ridiculously stupid. They live together in a gaming house paid for by Curse Gaming!!! By trolling around yesterday instead of playing thing straight, they cost themselves $40k, they endangered their professional careers, and they even could lose their current housing. And they did this because.... they felt like screwing around for fun?
What the hell is wrong with these people?!?

While it may have been a major competition up until that point, those finals were actually all but meaningless to those two teams. All that could have happened was dignitas moving up one seed. While the casters were certainly making a big deal about that, dignitas apparently didn't agree.
And serious money to who? Maybe to the people watching the stream, but an $8000 difference between first and second place is probably not so serious to successful professional teams. In any case they certainly have the right to treat the prize money any way they'd like. Further, the significant viewing audience loved the ARAM. It sent an instant buzz throughout the crowd and the internet, and while obviously not everyone liked it, the reaction was far more positive than negative.
MLG and riot have both said that the DQs were not the result of the ARAM. So, you can't really agree with the decision based on that. Again I have to wonder, what rule did they break? Redbeard posted on Riot's GD that the teams agreed on a winner beforehand (apparently Curse, for some reason), which would obviously be just as terrible a crime as everyone is making it out to be. The two teams are publicly denying that happened however, and I don't see how you could come to that conclusion based on watching the games. If dignitas finished their game 3 baron just 5 seconds faster, they easily escape with a large advantage, and likely the game and match. Are they really just that good at making a throw look realistic? Until some actual evidence comes out, I just don't see where the support for MLG comes from.

You've approached the situation from the wrong perspective. It's not about the players. It's about the sponsors. Players don't get to pick and choose what rules to follow. By entering the event, they agree to do whatever MLG asks them to do. That means that they don't get to make up their own rules in the finals because they feel like it. If they don't want to play straight, they shouldn't enter the competition.
A good analogy would be if the two teams in the NBA Finals agreed to decide Game One by holding a slam dunk contest. "What's wrong with that? The players all thought it was cool, and it created a buzz with the crowd!" It's wrong because the players don't get to make up the rules. Again, once a sport becomes professionalized and starts attracting sponsors, that means that the players don't get to do whatever they want. I don't care how much someone thinks a dunk off between LeBron and Durant would be awesome to watch, it can't take the place of an NBA Finals games, because the advertisers would go nuts. Similarly, Curse and Dignitas can't decide to play an ARAM game on their own, because it's unfair to MLG and their corporate sponsors. Complain about it all you like, that's how the world works. If they want to hold a separate ARAM event, that's fine, but the players cannot unilaterally change the rules on their own. You can't have the inmates running the asylum.
What the players want to do is irrelevant. It's not about them, or what they want.
