Redwall Abbey - building military and some settlers - mainly military. I need to get IW cause the freaking jungle grew on my pig, which only happened cause I had to waste some turns moving workers around. Stupid opponent. Life is much easier without him...

Growing, mil/settler, if I build the lighthouse, it will be here. Will definitely get Collosus if I get to build it. Moai gets built here, too. This will be a powerhouse for me



Peeg Vater (ironically, both my coastal cities are named after seagulls)

new, will be my second pure finance city. Gets furs and a lot of cottages. Granary->market->lib.

I'm closer than it looks. I'm out teching him right now (he has a huge culture lead) he's up in food, mainly cause he's up in cities and population.

That I have CoL helps - he has to go there, so i can go elsewhere. My guess is that he'll turn his advantages into Pyramids, which isn't so fun for me. Hopefully, financial will get me to the later wonders first. MoM might be very nice on this map - Glib will be nice, HG.

I have 2, he has 3. Mine are bigger, for reasons I don't understand.

The problem:

I have 5 cities.

He has 9. They are sizes:

6, 6, 5, 4, 3, 3, 2, 2, 2.

He's expanding like freaking weeds. Hopefully, he's choking on his own costs - my costs are 21 gpt, 1 of which is unit costs. he obviously has no unit costs, but my guess is that his expenses are closer to 35 gpt. Which might be enough to give me an advantage.

That's some ugly difference. Even if you take out the 3 cpt per city, that's a huge advantage - a lot of that is probably cheap libraries and, presumably, researching something with a couple of prereqs (CoL, I'm guessing).

But then, he gets his cheap courthouses that, btw, make whipping more effective.

I'm still hoping to be able to catch up in expansion at some point... but not all that hopeful. If I can't out tech him, I cannot win.

For the good news - got Manor Farm down and will get 100 acre wood down in 2 turns. 100 acre wood will be more military, manor farm more cottages.

So, a couple of things:

the tech situation is a lot better than I thought... i mean, a LOT:



The circled techs are techs I have that he does not. This doesn't include monotheism, which he can't even get to.

He researched Alphbet, so I find out what's going on.

I assume he did that to be able to build research. Can't imagine why else he would.

I think 2 more cities (gems, stone) and then some wonders - pyramids and HG would be great - collosus, too)

Research - I have IW, I think Calendar->HBR->MC.

I suppose there is a reason I'm still playing this.

He has twice the GNP as me AND is running a profit.

He now has more courthouses built.

I had a tech lead - that's down to math, poly, sailing and calendar - and he has HBR.

he has cities on or near BOTH sources of stone.

I have certianly misplayed this. *sigh* i think I'm going to get out of multiplayer once these games are done, cause I suck at it.

I think you're a decent player. But you need to focus on what went wrong every game and avoid doing those things again.

And these duel matchups aren't balanced.

I asked him what portion of his GNP is culture. I think it's something like 40 or 50, but he's running higher than me even then, even incuding MY culture.

I dunno if he'll tell me. I'm debating conceding. If I could see a way to win, i wouldn't concede - but he's killing me in the one thing I could, conceivably, win at (research), even though i think part of that is him building research.

If wasnt MP i would have done it with civ from some time,competition against human its the best, and there is always a new game.As Noble said you can learn from mistakes and see what you can do better next time.

If i would be in your place i would find this to the near end, whiping armies , beeing agresiv so i can learn as much as i can.

So, I looked up the CFC page on the demo screen, and ran some numbers and things don't look quite as bad as I thought.

GNP includes culture and espionage and he is creating more of both than me.
GNP is total output, regardless of cost.

At 100% science researching HBR (which he has), I'm at 150, which is similar to his. And I'm getting 2 commerce cities up.

He has 10 cities - I have 7, so that's about right with his 50% bonuses to settlers (we've both invested about 450 hammers in settlers - his just makes more settlers)
