T109 kills two cities at once?

Greeted by this happy sight:

I have no earthly clue why he attacked out with some of those units. Archers? I'm just assuming that was a frustration attack... Really strange. So instead of taking just one city, I decided why not burn both?

What I did here was fun. I promoted 3 Cats to City Raider (initially 2 but got crappy dice rolls). Eventually I got the sole archer in the eastern city redlined and simply cleaned up with my chariot. Then I promoted the chariot to sentry to give me all this beautiful vision. I then finished off his capital. I'm going to replace with a much safer city just north of here probably - on one of those hills which has yet to be determined because it is too late at night to be making those types of decisions. smile

Building military everywhere because I need to replenish some of these units and get more longbows everywhere. Oxford's getting a slight delay here, but such is life. I want Engineering quickly here.

And yes, I have now razed both of those locations 2 times for a cool total of 4 city razes so far this game. That definitely has me in the lead. I just need to think up a creative way to brag about this in the banter thread.

SUGGESTIONS NOW LURKERS. Make yourselves useful you non-commenting-except-when-you-want-to-nitpick lurkers. wink

why didn't you keep vultureland? doesnt seem like you'll get a better spot for your fifth city, and you can't replant it without razing another of his cities <G>

he's mentioned twice in the banter thread that a city razing probably did him a favor (once when you razed, and recently when pindicator got him). If his logic holds true, his economy should be outstanding by now - he'll get rifles very soon at this pace wink.

I didn't keep it because it was culturally suffocated for now, and it was very vulnerable to a determined counter-attack. I have longbows coming into the area which will be there in time for a northern replant, but he could move up crossbows + cats and make my life miserable next turn if I had kept it. Also, like I said I'm replanting north. Look at this picture:

It's going to go on one of those hills, likely one of the southern ones. That's safe and immediately productive, and it makes for a nice "killing ground" with flatland all south of them. I'm expecting AT's other city will fall soon enough to someone.

Well I've razed 4 cities total from him so I suppose I'm the most charitable person in this game wink. And yes, we're all doomed.

Man, Pindicator updating his thread makes me nervous. He never does that! lol

I've been keeping an eye out for his experienced horse archers by putting Pikes in border cities. So far so good. I'm being much more cautious with my eastern city because he can easily 1-move that one without warning. PIctures soon, I have a group of them I haven't uploaded.

OK, turns out I've only taken two pictures of the last chunk of turns. Oops? Been a bit busy. Anyways, Commodore definitely lost a city to Pindicator or something. It didn't register in the event log though so I'm not quite sure which it is but I have a hunch. Anyways, I got a prophet out of Abed:

That's going to be for a golden age, but I'm going to wait just a little longer to trigger it. I then resettled AT's city just north:

Nice to finally add a 5th city. I think I might have been the only person in the game to have never gotten a 5th city until now. Anyways, since then I sat and teched Currency (!!!!!) at 0% while finishing Oxford. There's a sentence you don't read every day. Oxford just finished, so I'll turn on the science burners now and see where I end up. I may trigger my golden age now as it would be nice to have it with complete 100% science. I'm thinking Guilds may be a wise call. We'll see, I have a few ideas.

By the way, not having stone/marble like Commodore and Pindicator have REALLY hurts me. It's a huge part of why I haven't been able to pull away from them... Kind of annoying, but nothing I can do about it as the Commodore city isn't really razable right now sadly.

You know, whenever I get the email notification that says "NobleHelium has just replied to your subscribed thread..." I mentally mutter "ah crap, what obscure detail didn't I notice this time." wink

Well, I sprung my golden age and turned on tech with Oxford online:

Unfortunately that may not have been my best idea ever given what it did to this:

Crap. That kind of GNP will get me dogpiled. I'm not even teching that fast I didn't think, but hopefully I can stave off a dogpile. I don't think I'm actually winning this game, but perception still goes a long ways on this kind of thing.

you could always turn the research to 0 for the rest of the golden age, then have a hhuge stockpile of gold for 100% researching for quite awhile.

Really, though, the only way to avoid this is to just never do a golden age, which doesnt seem like a good strategy to me lol. I think people realize your GNP is inflated by the golden age. Better pump out some units just in case. You'll be able to build knights in 2 turns now, right? pump out knights for the rest of the golden age, and if the dogpile for some reason doesnt happen, you'll be able to invade Pindicator or Commodore after the golden age smile.
