WTF?
You built a Library in WTF? ???? Erm. Why a Lib vs a highly promoted HE unit? uzzled: (and TY for finally cottaging those last two plains farms in PRNGG. Those farms have been bugging me for 30t or so. )

Because I was going to waste overflow hammers, and frankly I'm getting annoyed at paying over 100 gpt for my units.
And I was waiting a turn or two to get a worker to finish those cottages. there is a good point that I should have just cottaged them a while ago and not bothered growing to size 17, but it's not going to lose me the game and I like having the cities at the right size. if I can afford to be artistic, I usually will be. Turn 237 - Nakor tries to be greedy Basic point: I am the only player with Steel. I don't need Steam power, and two people have it. OTOH, I have a huge army and can invade people, so I don't want them to have Steel, and no one is researching it currently. And Nakor wants me to give him Steel, and 800g, for Steam Power? Uh, no chance Nakor, and with you trading stuff to Pingo you are suddenly a much more viable target, to remove tech trading partners and get me some nice cottage cities. And the best thing, the sheer amount of modern units I need to take on Pingo means that I might end up just taking out Nakor because it saves me time in the long run, whilst I wait to finish "the rest" of the army. I only need to upgrade my 30 knights, build 20 cannons (and I already have a couple being built) plus a trickle of rifles to garrison the cities...and I can just steam role through Nakor.
Turn 238 - I hate overviews
I'm not going to say anything about this turn because I have to leave for work in six hours. If you have any questions just post them.
4 hours sleep and 18 hours of work is not what I expected but fuck it, that's life.
OK, about PB5...I have a strategy to win, by shutting down players one by one. I'm going to take Nakor out first, removing Pingo's tech trading partner from the game, thus slowing their tech pace and improving mine as Nakors mainland is basically all cottages. After that I'm going to turn on Pingo, and kick them off the continent. I will continue to build units constantly for the rest of the game, and build up my forces so that when I come to attack Pingo I will not be attacking at numbers parity but with an advantage. After this point, I will have to reconsider what to do, but it will effectively be an AW game, and I will only attack scooter if I deem that an easier conquest than taking over the western continent. That will mainly be down to the tech situation: I have Cav now, and I just traded Communism for Constitution with Nakor (which I think is reasonable, he has no use for Communism with so many cottages). So I'm down 10K adjusted beakers on Steam Power which will be a little over 6.5K base beakers when I get Corporation, but up more than that in Steel and Mil Trad. scooter has 8k gold saved though, so I'm waiting to see what he does: He could go straight through Physics and head for Artillery, which enables Destroyers and Transports (but you still need Combustion for oil or Fission for uranium to build hte units), or beeline for Assembly Line and the Pentagon. Personally, I want Pentagon badly, because it makes it much easier to get triple promoted boats. |
