me: i was wrong about losing all your production
if you have nothing queued behind a failed wonder
the production gets saved for a turn
as overflow
pindicator: didn't happen that way in PB5
me: really?
i definitely trust seven on this
pindicator: well, the base production yeah
me: well all overflow is base production
do you mean you chopped and lost chop production?
pindicator: yeah
me: really? you should specify that then
because everyone is going with what seven said right now which is the exact opposite
pindicator: i misunderstood what seven was saying then, i thought i was agreeing with him
me: We will get failgold for the currently invested hammers, and the remaining hammers (about 100 if I'm not mistaken) will be immediately applied to our next project if there is one queued up, or will just be added as overflow for next turn.
that's including the chop hammers
pindicator: we should figure that out, he doesn't sound too sure
me: he sounded sure to me
anyway if you have experience otherwise
you should definitely say that
your post doesn't make any sense right now :P
pindicator: probably a sign i need to go to sleep

Oh and the settler is coming very fast so we need to get to the northwest ASAP. Whichever unit can get there fastest should be sent there.

Xenu will get there 1t faster than the spear.

The fastest would be finishing the road on the corn, putting Xenu in AO, and sending the AO warrior out 2NW.

Also we need to make sure we don't grow into unhappiness at MM. We have 5 happy with -1 from whipping and we would get -1 from lack of MP at size 4. So make sure we have a unit in the city.

I said not to have anything "else" queued up, by which I meant a non-settler non-worker. Like an axe or barracks or whatever. I think it's a choice we can make, to queue up a worker or settler, or plan to grow and then build one the following turn, as our continency plan.

There does seem to be some discrepency between my experience and pindicator's. But I looked at the screenshot from their PB5 thread and I think he's just misremembering. Overflow is clearly visible. They got less failgold than they expected, but more hammers than they expected. Actually I think this very incident is why I knew how it worked. smile

Another vote for keeping the spear at home. Not dying to unlucky barbs is way more important then finding another team.

I would prefer to scout with an axe. Axes are simply going to survive better than spears. And a spear at home in case of someone's opportunistic chariot is best. Not as much a chance of being axe rushed.

All true, that's why I want the spear to scout the northern borders keeping in forest/jungle all time for the extra 50% defense.
And have the axe scout south, where we have mostly prairie.

If there is a majority to keep the spear at home, then at least use Goldilocks (warrior at MM) to scout some more. But Goldilocks will be more vulnerable!

IMO the ideal situation is to scout with the spear and keep axes for defense, since our scouting unit doesn't need to ever attack, only defend, but we may need to attack invaders to defend our land properly.

But from what I'm hearing we need all our units at home right now, to protect our coming city. We'll probably get a couple axes soon.
